Cabo Azul is so beautiful. It has a simple elegance and impeccable service without being stuffy. We had four children ages 5 to 21 and everyone loved hanging out and swimming in the beautiful pools. Snce we were there in August, the water in the pool was a little too warm for our taste, but the lack of crowds more than made up for it. We had dinner at Javiers which is right on the beach. The food, the view, and the service were fabulous. We enjoyed watching the horses strolling by on the beach. We would definitely come back!

We have heard both the good and bad reviews re: Cabo Azul (we have 4 couples who vacationed here prior to our honeymoon) so we decided to share our OWN experience....


The views of this property are absolutely BREATHTAKING....it truly is something well worth at least 1 TRIP to Mexico!!! The rooms are awesome villas...(people please STOP complaining about the lights in the rooms and adjust the dimmer!!)

*Our absolute best time was at Guacamaya's in San Jose Del Cabo ($7 USD taxi ride each way). The best QUALITY/DELICIOUS food we found in town and the prices are unbeatable. The atmosphere is a family restaurant or a romantic outdoor dinner with your spouse....this a MUST-DO

*We stopped at the Mega (don't buy any poultry/meats here...don't seem to be taken care of as well as the States...perhaps it's the lack of a real freezer temp) and had our breakfast homemade :0), lunch was always at the Deli,, and dinner was at Guacamaya or Baja Blue or a few spots in Cabo San Lucas!

*The Monday night beach party ($35USD) is an absolute must!! The buffet was mediocre and the drinks were watered down (tip your waiter and they will come back STRONG) but the views and the entertainment is WORTH every penny of it!!! It is set-up right along the beach during sunset! Absolutely beautiful

The neighboring resort Grand Mayan has an AWESOME staff and the drinks are NOT watered down...I say please hit up their happy hour...well worth it!!

-Cabo San Lucas
*The arch is 100% awesome...we actually ended getting the Sunrider Sunset Cruise (buffet, unlimited drinks (again tip them*), and 2 hours and you see the Arch) for $29.00 per person by one of the sales people by Baja Blue Bar & Grill (right next to the Mega). It was weird...we were not trying to negotiate, we were just tired and quiet during his "pitch" and talked himself into the lowest price we have seen for this cruise...completely unexpected lol

Why We Won't Come Back

-The airport: all the BEWARE TIMESHARE STALKERS comments are true!! We are on vacation....not on a sales mission. As soon as you land, all these dirty men ran up to my husband and I stating they knew how to get to our resort and could provide something better. (literally as soon as you exit the terminal). My husband and I ignored them and when they got to close or overly aggressive....we became very assertive and let them know to back the hell off. TURN OFF!

-The local ground staff were so sweet, we absolutely LOVED them, but the management honestly to us did not appear to care much about its guests. We personally felt that the management was more so focused about booking rooms and selling the vacation-share than meeting the bare minimum standards for a luxury resort for it guests. TURN OFF

-The area itself is not pleasing to the eye....dirt roads, uneven pavement, definitely not something we experienced when visiting any of the 4 islands in the Caribbean. It was not a beautiful city to us...just an AWESOME resort. TURN OFF

-We are NOT going to lie and say they have bedbugs...bc we are not 100% absolutely sure and that would be unfair to Cabo Azul. However, I will say I came back with (yes we counted) 11 itchyyyy bites on my legs and my husband came back with 9 so being that this is very uncomfortable we won't be coming back.TURN OFF


As you can see, after the 1st few days--we definitely ventured out of Cabo Azul (which is probably why we enjoyed the trip as much as we did). I'd say hit this resort up at least once....just to get the experience. But we won't be coming back.

We can only talk about our opinion/experience and we decided to spend the few extra dollars and head back out to the Caribbean islands or maybe even take a look into Hawaii. This place lacks the luxury and high customer service it claims to provide (online or wherever) and the grounds/views are the selling point here....the drinks were OK at best, the bites...who knows where they came from, the money hungry management turned us OFF, the annoying stalkers at the airport (no comment), and the city is not as beautiful as anything in the US.....so that would lead us to NEVER COME BACK. Funny thing is...and I swear it made us laugh so hard....when the airline announced they were now boarding the flight to LA....there were 3 other famiies (and 1 couple) who were more enthusiastic about getting home then we were. We had a few conversations and everyone was ready to come home for different reason (this does not reflect anything on Cabo Azul particularly...just a random coincidence re: the other tourists and the area itself)

P.S.-Plz don't confuse the management with the staff on this post. The front-line employees here are sweet hard-working people who deserve a tip ....

Amazing pool. Huge Villa with spa bath and kitchen. The interior design looks out of a magazine. The three infinity pools are heated and so great. Swim up bar palapa. Food everywhere especially Javier is some of the best I have had. More for couples and less for kids but we did fine with our two year old before. You can walk to the shopping in old town san Jose or take five dollar cab. Safe as can be with a security staff letting you in and out of gate at front.

Stayed for one week in July. Everything about the place was wonderful! Very clean facility. Will be back again next year!

The service here was excellent, everyone was nice and helpful, and the rooms were immaculate, they looked like pottery barn or crate and barrel catalog pictures, the couches were clean and it just smelled fresh and new. The only complaint I have is the lighting in the restrooms, I wish it was a bit brighter just so that I was able to wash my contacts.The showers were nice and big, the bedding was very comfortable and the kitchen was big with all the amenities, refrigerator( a big one), stove, microwave microwave, coffemaker, and even a dishwasher, this will come and handy when we have kids. The 3 pools were pristine and it was a hop, skip and a jump from the beach. Though, no one really swims in the beach because tides are high, we went in May the tides weren't too high but we aired on the side of caution. The water is beautiful though and we rented horses on the beach and rode on the beach in the edge of the water. I do wish they would have had more restaurants on the property. They have 3 restaurants one of them being Javier's which they have in California. I don't care for the restaurant, its not bad, but I am of Mexican decent so to me, its not authentic and its overpriced. I could have cooked something better and more affordable in the room. There is a market on the hotel grounds, which has plenty of things from cereal, to beer. I bit pricier than the Mega( equates to a Target) that is about quarter mile away. We bought waters, fruit and snacks and kept them in the refrigerator. I loved the room, the service and the location, not to far from downtown San jose del cabo, Note, they are still buidling newer rooms, though this didn't affect us nor the noise, but just thought I'd mention it. I really liked this town it was nice and quaint. We went into Cabo for a couple of days our friends had a time share there and I really liked our hotel and the area better. When we go back we will rent a car, the taxis are a bit much, and its not too hard to get anywhere.

Amazing Resort! You will not be disappointed. Well kept grounds, professional and courteous staff! We were here for a whole week in June to celebrate our 9th year anniversary and we were in a 2- Bedroom Ocean View Villa. Amazing rooms, very roomy, up to date, clean and nice beds! They even put your dirty dishes in the dishwasher for you!

Granted their lobby is still under construction but the most important amenities like the pool, restaurants, gym, spa, mini-market are all open and ready for business!
Breath-taking views and they have great events lined up every night.

It's Cabo Prices (high) even if you get out of the hotel - Cabo is in general - pretty pricy.
Stay away from Timeshare Hawks - starting at the airport! They all look like they are picking you up as a representative from the resort but they're not. Watch out for the guys with the orange shirts! They will all claim they are from "Transcabo" (shuttle service) but if they do not have the Transcabo Logo on their orange shirt, RUN!

On the other hand, if you are fine with visiting other properties and spend 3 hours getting convinced that you need to buy another timeshare and willing to take their freebies, then by all means, spend your first 30 minutes of your time at the airport AFTER getting your luggage - to chat with these guys.

This was our second trip to the resort. Everything and everyone was great for a fun vacation for our family of 10 members. I have one warning - the Mega market ($5 by taxi) messed up while bagging our groceries and wouldn't acknowledge that we arrived at our hotel without about $30 worth of meat - all the meat we needed for the week! We had to return and repurchase the items. Taxi costs were a total of $20 just to purchase from that store.So much for customer service. So watch while they bag the groceries. The next trip we went to WalMart ($5 by taxi) - clean store, good prices, excellent variety of foods, good service etc. The concierge at Cabo Azul attempted to help us speak to the Mega manager but said those employees are only doing their job, not schooled in customer service. One other heads up - the hotel doesn't itemize purchases so your bill at the end of the week is a list in pesos. Try figuring out who bought what for seven days!
