The moment we walked into the candlelit entry of the Grand Mayan Los Cabos we felt immediately relaxed. From the warm greeting, to the friendly service and luxurious surroundings we were happy to be there. The Grand Mayan is known for it's sleek architecture, perfectly manicured landscape and gorgeous pools. Everywhere we looked we saw intimate areas for lounging-in daybeds or loungers- all dotted with the signature scalloped umbrellas. The Grand Mayan definitely gives attention to detail. Each suite has a balcony or terrace facing the ocean. Service was excellent, especially poolside, with Edgar, Yuri and Eric, treating us like celebrities. Room service was prompt and friendly with Ener and Jesus as regulars. Francisco in sales was friendly and helpful. Our experience at the spa was very good. Do a massage on day 2 for the best of relaxation. The only thing that keeps this review from being a 5 star is the lack of coffee makers and any refrigerator in the studio units. My husband was frustrated with the early saving of lounge chairs, by towels or flip flops, that remained in place all day with no occupants. It made getting a spot near the beach side of the pool difficult. Food can be hit or miss at the poolside restaurant but there are types of coffee and food spots right across the street. All in all we greatly enjoyed our week at the Grand Mayan and would certainly return to this beachside boutique hotel. Additional photos are on my Stylemindchic Blog post on our visit to the Grand Mayan and San Jose del Cabo.

Room Tip: Closer to the ocean the better the views. Higher floors are more intimate with better views.

Beautiful grounds and pool. Very friendly staff. Our 2 BR unit was huge (about 1,300 sq. ft.) with nice view of ocean, grounds, and infinity pools. Twice daily maid service including chocolates and turn down bed service in the evening. Granite countertops, full kitchen (but no dishwasher). Maid will do the dishes for you if you leave a tip.

Internet was 665 pesos for the week…slow with frequent disconnects.

Parking is valet only, 320 pesos per week. Cash is not accepted at the resort, so all drinks and food are charged to your room. 15% gratuity is added to all purchases.

The resort's restaurants are pricy. We ate at the local restaurants in town (SJ del Cabo), and there are many good ones. One of our favorites (cheap) is on Blvd. Mijares on the right hand side between the Mayan just prior to reaching Benito Juarez Ave. Great, inexpensive seafood tostadas and tacos.

Our favorite (moderately priced) was Restaurant “H” in the art district (entrees 200-450 pesos; salads 60-80 pesos). Great seafood cannelloni, chicken breast with mushroom/artichoke risotto, smoked pork chop, tomato & basil salad.

The Mayan is a very nice, upscale resort conveniently located close to town center . The very capable staff certainly made us feel welcome. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: We had a ground floor unit with nice view of pools and ocean. Upper floors probably have a spectacu...

My parents are owners at the Grand Mayan, and this location is one that they can only stay at every 5 years. Supposedly it is one the smaller hotels of this chain. I loved it. It was off the beaten path. Quiet. The spa was relaxing. The room was big and even though I was on the "couch" I was still comfortable. The Mexican Fiesta was fun though pricey, and the food was okay. The happy hour was 2 drinks for $11... pricey. Still, a good experience overall. We cooked in our room most meals after shopping at the MEGA.

This resort is basically a time share location, as as such it is important to understand that your rates are "adjusted" (10% off) if you attend a "presentation" concerning their other properties across Mexico. (read upsell). As with all time shares, if you want to sell your Gran Mayan place, you cannot put a sign up and you can only sell it through the hotel group.

Amenities include an assortment of pools (only one heated, but big enough for all), several laundries, an ATM in the gift shop, a steam room, free water activities such as water aerobics and an attentive staff.

Lacking is internet support. The sales staff said that it was a problem all over the entire peninsula, which I found to be a lie, when I stayed in five other properties in Baja that had excellent connections.(What? the sales staff lied? No!) As another reviewer pointed out they charge $65 per week per device for this service if you are on the lower end of the timeshare chain (upgraded "premium" clients get it "free"). If you need to do serious work on the net, as I did, choose another property.
The gym is way too small (two cycles, few machines, etc.) for the size of the property, but the lobby and desk area at the gym area is a large designed space for visual treats but not to work out.
Skip the poolside restaurant. Overpriced, long waits and so-so food. In addition, none of the wait staff would speak to me in Spanish, even if I started the conversation in the language. Understandable though, as 98 percent of the clientele is American. Oh, excuse me, NORTH American.

We have stayed at most Grand Mayan properties and we just returned from this cabo location. Beautiful property, very well maintained, wonderful, helpful staff, etc., however, they charge $65.00 per week PER DEVICE for internet. Scam. (Unfortunately, we couldn't get away from work the entire time.) We did not make this frivolous purchase and instead hopped across the street to get free internet. In our search for internet service, we found several wonderful little bars and coffee shops that we ended up frequenting during our stay. While here, we had several conversations with other owners who felt the same way we did. Had they had internet, we would have spent a lot more time there eating and drinking. It's not about the money, it's getting nickel and dime's. It's the little things...

Great location for a relaxing trip. Spent a week there and most of my time was enjoyed by the pool/on the beach. They have activities staff that host free activities daily including stretching/yoga, beach volleyball, bingo, with a few theme nights including casino night. If you are going in the cooler months, stick to the infinity pool- much warmer than the other pools - or the hot tubs - not the same temperatures you would expect from a hot tub in the US, but very nice considering the warmer weather in Cabo. The food on the resort is fine, nothing exciting though. I would recommend checking out Ten Tu Taco across the street. Delicious and much cheaper. People had concerns about my safety while traveling in Mexico, but they have staff to monitor who is entering from the beach and the front entrance (all guests wear wrist bands) and I felt safe off the resort as well.

A special thank you to Senem Correa Cabral our Bellman. He went out of his way to assist us, always with a smile. He made us feel very welcome. We will definately be returning to the Grand Mayan
