Arrived in Susice without booking a room. Recommended by a local to try the Hotel Gabreta, just off the town square. The hotel is well kept but basis. After a comical conversation with the lady at reception ( due totally to my lack of Czech and the lack of a mutual language between us,) I booked a twin room with breakfast and was shown to a very clean but basis room.
The bathroom was clean but sparse, however everything worked and the shower was excellent and piping hot. The other half and I took a wander around the town looking for somewhere to eat but ended up back at the hotel for an evening meal.
The meal was wholesome and plentiful but the roast 'wild boar,' bore more than a passing resemblance to 'boiled beef' that was on the menu as well..! ( Again, something else I will put down to a communication problem ! ) We enjoyed the meal and were very surprised at the £11.00 bill for drinks and a meal for two !
I did not hold out high hopes for breakfast the next morning, but could not have been more wrong. It was fine, with the usual continental fare of cereals, cheeses, meats, hot rolls, juice etc. Plenty to eat and choose from. I definitely was not going to grumble when the whole the cost £ 30.00 !More
