I really can't recommend this place highly enough. A real dining experience in itself, you feel like you have stumbled upon a run of the mill seaside cafe, until you see the queues to get a table and notice the chap behind the takeaway counter shucking oysters!

Luckily we had the foresight to book a table and we sat down to peruse the menu amongst the general hubbub. The staff are very friendly and efficient, everything comes quickly and everything is fresh. Be warned though, if you don't like fish, don't go there. There is nothing else on the menu.

We sampled the world famous oysters, lovely and salty and tasting of the sea and I then ordered off the specials board - chilli crab cakes - and my husband had good old haddock and chips. Another warning. The portions are huge!!! We are both big eaters but even we gasped. It was all so delicious though that we ate every scrap. I cannot comment on the desserts. I can't believe that anyone ever has enough room to eat any of them!

Altogether a lovely dining experience and good value for money, given the quality of the food and the amount you get on your plate! As we waddled out we both said we would definitely be going again, probably in the summer when we can combine it with a walk along the coast.

This is the only place we eat fish and chips. Crunchy( and not oily) batter, white, soft, flaky fish and golden fried chunky chips with home made tartar sauce and mushy peas, mmmm to die for... Oysters -the freshest you can get, and platters for one , two or four- crab meat served in shell, smoked peppered mackerel, mussels, prawns, salmon with dressed salad and white bread with butter...Delicious....Small glass of wino 4£ ,drinks bit expensive however food is like nowhere else.Staff relaxed and always very nice. Book the table to be sure you'll have a table, as there is always busy. you have to go to try that food !!!

first time visit -ordered lobster and oysters / cod - food was amazing after initially forgetting about our order so it took about 45 mins to get our food. We got an apology and all our drinks paid for so it really went a long way to compensate for the wait. the place can get very busy and our table was right by the door so we got a bit crowded out and with people leaving the door open on a very cold day. Overall a good no frills experience and we will be returning (but to a different table !) - and will book next time as well !

Come here about twice a year. Oyster bar -yes, but fish and chips to die for not to mention the lobster I had today on mothers day. Wine and beer available and all so fresh and expertly cooked pretty much in front of you. Weather permitting, pop around the corner for a walk along the beach.
