“2 hour wait for a salad A dog of a pub”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 February 2014 via mobile

We had booked and most of the party arrived on time. We wrtr 20 minutes late due to having to sort out our baby. Requested regular updates and were given inaccurate promises. Be honest if you are understaffed and not up to the job.really unfriendly and an unpleasant atmosphere. Staff made snide remarks and had privates jokes with the locals. Felt like I had walked into the Slaughtered Lamb. If are going to East Mersea take a picnic and don't rely on this dog of a pub

“Nice pub grub with good atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 November 2013

My sister and I stayed in the cottage next door, so enjoyed the lunchtime meals and evening food here. Tasty, with helpful assistance from staff. Moreover, they did takeaways, most welcome for guests at the cottage next door. Basically, it was good, wholesome grub.... Most welcome

“Lovely!”

Stayed at Coopers Beach so popped in here for a meal and wasn't let down. Friendly staff and locals, great atmosphere and scrummy food. Will definitely be coming back here when we come to Mersea again.

“Nice pub but poor on the food side”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 September 2013

We came for lunch and a few drinks last week, the pub looks really nice and has a good setting . We were let down by the food though we had a very long wait and when it came out the fish seemed like it had been frozen for too long and was tasteless and mushy .

“not the best!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 September 2013

The good, 1, the weather, 2, parking is fine,
the bad 1, the fish was mushy in the fish and chips meals not firm like it should be, 2, service was on the slow side even if it is cooked fresh ! 3, no fan to cool you down in the extension part of the restaurant ( It was a warm day but wanted to eat at the table which is why we went inside ) this is a shame as the prices seemed reasonable for the food but thats before we had eaten, would we try again i doubt it,
