This is our 3rd or 4th stay at St Elmo and it seems to get better each time.
The booking process with Kathy is faultless, we are now sent emails that feel like communicating with an old friend rather than a business transaction.
When we arrive and are greeted by Christina, again it feels like old friends and nothing is too much trouble. Even making a return visit to get the BBQ out of the shed as the weather was quite good this weekend!
The house is immaculate and the little touches like milk, coffee, tea is really welcome.
The bathrooms all have miniature toiletries in them, which is fantastic as I know I don't have to worry when we are there just for a long weekend.
Poo Bags are by the back door, and there is a bowl and towel for our four legged baby. So everyone in the party is looked after.
Christina is obviously a dog lover herself as she is never put off by our over zealous terrier and even makes time to give him a stroke.
Since our last visit there is now new couches in the lounge and the bathrooms have been decorated, it's these constant upgrades that make St Elmo stand out from the rest.
We come back year after year and will continue to do so (until we've outstayed out welcome or bought our own place) as each time we come a little piece of my heart gets left behind in West Mersea,
Highly recommend the accommodation to anyone, with or without a dog as it is a home from home with the beach on your doorstep.
Very spacious chalet bungalow -comfortable with everything you need -dog friendly with safe enclosed back garden -large driveway at front with room for 4 cars /near to all amenities -beaches within walking distance -nearby park to walk dog and Cudmore Country park short drive away -dog friendly pubs nearby -just had a very nice relaxing break there
Everything perfect and no stone unturned to ensure the comfort and enjoyment of visitors. Location A1 for shops and dog-walks, all of which are excellent. Just the best possible place to switch off for a while with none of life's worries. Fully recommended and we will return !
In October my husband and I stayed at St Elmo with our 3 dogs, we absolutely loved it, very dog friendly and house spotlessly clean and tidy. lovely large accommodation with fully equipped kitchen, enclosed and fully safe clean back garden for the dogs and would suit young children.Owner provided dog water bowl, towels and poo bags, very much appreciated. House walking distance to local park, beach and all shops and cafes, we didn't not go in the car for the week except to Cudmore country park. The local beach is fantastic and very dog friendly, also all the local people are polite, very friendly and love dogs. I have never been to Mersea Island previously and I live in Essex, I can not recommend the Island or this accommodation enough.
I did look to book for another week in 2017 but unfortunately the dates we would like are all fully booked. Maybe 2018.
the Jacobs family and 3 terriers
This was excellent accommodation immaculate, very good tourist information provided.
Easy access to town centre and beaches. Lots of parking. Could be made to sleep six. Would certainly stay again. Nothing as too much trouble lovely touch for the dogs

I stayed here with my mother for a week. Spacious and clean, very comfortable house.
Very convenient location in West Mersea, near shops and the Coast Road.
I used to walk there in the evenings watch the sun set against the boats. Beautiful.
Definitely recommend staying in St. Elmo.
