“Comfortable and very clean”
Reviewed 3 July 2013

This motel is on the main highway but set back off the road enough to make it peaceful. I agree with other reviewers that it is a little dated but very comfortable and more important very clean. This accommodation is within easy walking distance to the shopping area and supermarket. There was everything one could wish for in the very spacious unit and I enjoyed a very comfortable stay.

Units straight from the (early) 70s, no microwave, bathroom just like your grandparents used to have. And if you want clean nice tasting water out of the tap forget it and the hot water is a lovely pale shade of grey

stayed there for 1 night with my wife and baby.
room was ugly , old and tired with stains on carpet and sofas and a bad smell.
shower was gust high enough for a very short person.
we arrived there at late hour after a long drive and we where glad we arrived late and only have to spend there one night after we saw the room.
price is much too high for this kind of accommodation.
do yourself a fever and try somewhere else.

Stayed one night. Got a good sleep in a comfortable bed, and everything I needed was there. Although the unit was dated it was definitely not shabby, everything worked, the shower was good and the staff very friendly and helpful. The prices seem a little high for the quality of the accommodation (cw other towns), but given there are only two motels in Wairoa you have little choice.

Room Tip: Quite a noisy main road beside the complex (lots of trucks) so the further back from the road you ar...

The rooms were clean but dated. (70s?) The shower was old but in great working order.
Older style tv with a few sky channels. Friendly owner with friendly pets who turned up at breakfast for a snack. The room brakfast was large and well cooked. The kind of breakfast a working man would have. Not Cordon Bleu but tasty.
Restaurant meals were middle of the road and after four nights eating I was struggling to find something appealing.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the road facing the river. Large trucks park outside while staying and start le...

We have stayed here a couple of times on working bees to the area, and find Peter the host very accommodation with giving us a late check out if he can. Unit is always clean and tidy. Studio has a fridge and kettle and toaster. There is even a coffee plunger and plunger coffee. Great value for money. There is a fish and chip cafe a couple of minutes walk over the road.

Small and very friendly motel in Wairoa where our relatives live. They selected the lodge as a suitable place to stay during out visit and we were pleased they did. Peter the owner is a great guy who made us feel completely at home and relaxed. We even left our bags in our room while we went to visit Napier overnight and when we came to settle our bill he would not charge us for the room for the night we did not sleep in it. The room was always clean and tidy and serviced everyday and the equipment was all tht we needed for an extended stay of some 11 nights. We intend to visit Wairoa again in the future and will certainly stay at the Vista Lodge again when we do so. The location is great as it is right on the river bridge and just a 5 minute stroll into town.
