Reviewed 21 February 2012

This was a very nice hotel in close proximity to the old town. The rooms were very unique with sky lights on the second floor. Very clean and quiet and the staff were very helpful.

Room Tip: choose a room on the second floor facing the court yard in the rear of the hotel.

This one may be too new for the guidebooks, but it is certain to be included before long. Located in same building as the Michoacan historical museum (which appears to be under renovation) the Historia has about a dozen rooms on two floors. Each one is different -- unique actually in boutique style. Stayed in room Cathedral with window on street, which wasn't impossibly noisy on a saturday night. Moved to room Library with window onto stairway/courtyard for remainder of stay. Rooms didn't suffer from poor ventilation (like a lot of colonial hotels do) as ceilings were a good 20 ft high in this 18th (or 17th) century stone structure. Bathrooms spacious, with all systems up-to-date fully functioning, comfortable bed and linens, free wifi included, cable TV not the full package. Breakfast not included. Walk-in rate was about $55. Located within a block of main square. A number of good hotels in Morelia, and unless you prefer a big one, with restaurant and full service, the Historia is ideal.
