“Dont believe in the 4 stars of them.”
Reviewed 14 January 2014

Definitely they are not a 4 stars hotel. Dark and old mani area, dorm big (its good) buttt without heating (zero degrees outside, and the room had 2 big windows), a bad-illuminate bathroom that makes impossible take a real shower at night, dont have a really hot water (only warm), and the curtains are not 'black-out'.

Room Tip: If the weather is being good (not too hot or too cold) choice the front dorm (with 2 windows front t...

This was my second stay in this place, it was by luck since the first one also just looked for a cheap place to crash. The room was a little pricey for 2 people, but since it was 4 of us it didnt felt like too much. The location is perfect. They have parking place and a restaurant in the upper floor.

Stayed in the room 110. its insolated from the outside, there is no natural light inside, but there is a window with a light on, so it gives you that "its 7am" feeling... which made us step out of the room at 11am :P

The wifi reception in the 4th level was not very good, also mobile signal was not good inside the room. No remote control offered.

Room Tip: I heard room 102 is wonderful :P

Room 102 is wonderful: spacious with high ceilings, hardwood floors, recessed lighting, huge closets and a step-out window with a fantastic view of the Teleferico bufa and the charming street below. The beds are cozy with warm duvets (December + Zacatecas = cold). The only adjustment for some travelers may be the tiny shower, which has an accordion-fold door, no light and a window into the hotel hall. Strange, but efficient and the hot water pressure is great. The hotel is centrally-located so you can walk everywhere. Maps are provided with attractions and landmarks, if you need to get some place, just ask the friendly staff. Upon arrival I was greeted warmly by the lovely Marisol. I was charged for the room (after paying for it online); Marisol apologized the next time I passed the desk and we sorted out the billing. Recommended!

Room Tip: Ask for room 102! The hotel has no pool that I could find, but it wasn't needed in December. The...

If you don't want to spend a lot of pesos and want to be in the heart of the historic center, you won't go wrong with this hotel. There are some beautiful expensive hotels in the heart of the city too, it all depends on your taste and budget. I like historic old hotels and this one fit the budget and the ambiance. The staff is very nice and helpful.

This hotel is typical of older Mexican independent budget hotels. It's quite spartan by American standards and features such things as extremely dim lighting (it wouldn't hurt to bring along a 100W equivalent CFL bulb), firm springless mattress on a very low bedstead (very common in Mexican homes), and an obvious look of being worn around the edges.

The hotel compensates in several ways.
- A courteous, attentive staff.
- a very spacious room.
- Everything in good working order.
- Clean, clean.
- A location bettered only by hotels costing twice as much and more.
- Excellent Internet performance.
- TV with sharp bright image.
- High intensity lights above the beds so reading is no problem.

I rate it 4 out of 5 only because of an L-shaped floor plan that puts the roomy closets at what looks like a block away and lack of an adequate table for the computer.

This is an excellent choice if keeping costs low. The next cheaper alternative would be a well rated hostel.

Room Tip: The staff will be happy to show you the rooms available. An interior room would be best. The front...

I stayed here 3 nights recently. The hotel was nothing special. with rooms that are clean, comfortable enough and plenty spacious, However they are drab, a bit rundown, can be noisy, not all have windows and some can be cold at night so not quite sure how one can rate this 5 stars. The staff is friendly and are willing to show you several rooms however if you are not satisfied. with the one you get initially. It is an excellent location just a few minutes walk from the cathedral and great value compared to alternatives so overall I think a very good choice for the budget traveler -I probably would give this 3.5 stars if an option.

I really don't know how this hotel could get any better!
service Was more than exelent,
location was incredible within a few steps from the cathedral
Parking and wifi at no extra cost was a plus specially at the centro where is really hard to find a parking space....
The hotel is an old building so don't expect an American size suite, it's a reasonable large room but not huge, I felt like I got a $600 dls hotel for just $40! The Best hotel value i ever had! And I'm a very frequent traveler
