Like all hotels we stayed at in Mexico, this one did not give anywhere near the same value that a motel of the same price would provide in the U.S. No screen on window in room which was right off a hall, and no fan or other cooling; kinda spooky having to leave our window open for air at night. Beds not bad, not good. Bathroom outdated but bearable. Internet only worked if sitting near check-in desk. Breakfast was something that resembled toast but was so hard it broke when buttered, and served by a snarly waitress who didn't deserve the tip we left. Had a hard time at check-in because, as we had made a last-minute reservation via Priceline and not been able to print it, the hotel staff could not check us in because management does not allow front desk staff to have access to the internet, so they could not receive Priceline's confirmation.

Since our normal hotel was booked we decided to stay here especially because of the price for the hotel and its location in Puebla. The hotel was close enough to walk to both the bus station to Choula and the central downtown Zocolo and the shopping areas. The hotel has hard beds, no safe and is just a bit outdated and needing some renovations. The door sweep was falling of the door, some bathroom and sink caulking was poorly done and moldy. Our group had three rooms and two rooms had screens on the window but ours did not and there was no fan so we ended up closing the window because of some bugs and it was a bit warm. Also the hotel did have a smell that was not a good smell like a toilet or plumbing problem. I understand many hotels in Puebla do not offer air conditioning and this one did not either. It was fine for a night but there are many other Puebla hotels to choose from so as my wife said I would not stay here again.

Stayed here on an Intrepid Basix tour and this hotel basically did what it says on the box. It is basic, no bones about it, but the location is great, it is clean and I didn't really find anything to complain about. My room was on level 4 and consisted of 1 double bed. The sink is in the bedroom and the bathroom was old but it was clean. When I arrived the room was really hot so I left the window open when I went out and when I came back there was a bit of a smell like other reviewers have reported, but I think the smell came from the town, not from the hotel, as I had smelt it outside as well. The complimentary breakfast really wasn't worth the effort so I'd suggest skipping it and heading out somewhere instead.

Our backpacking tour company booked us into this hotel. The staff were nice enough but the hotel itself was poor. It's really well located but our room had a window onto the corridor to the lift. Down the corridor was a light well above the restaurant. Which meant the room was fairly dingy and we heard everything that happened in the hotel. The room was dirty, the bathroom was the worst. It was old with very dodgy smelly plumbing. Erm, that's it.

Room Tip: There are rooms at the back with windows onto the outside that must be fairly quiet.

I was in the hotel two nights during an organized tour. The good point is the location, walking distance from the main square. Otherwise the hotel is old and smelly, with no light in the rooms which are located around a central hall (or better hole?) so that it strongly reminds of the structure of a prison. The service is average and they didn't even tell us breakfast was included.

we had to move after the second night, but should have moved immediately. they had put something that produced a noxious gas down the bathroom drains that literally gagged us...we were with a group of museum guides from the national hispanic cultural center in albuquerque nm and had been promised a breakfast that changed to juice coffee and toast after we had arrived...a group of students from vera cruz kept us up all night despite repeated calls to a busy signal at the desk...the hotel could have called the tourist police to solve the student problem...ubt orf course avoided that by no answering the phone...one of our group found a "maintenance man" in her room when she returned in the evening who was supposed to be fixing the toilet that had not had a problem...and my wife found some small change missing, while a third person in our group found her door unlocked when she returned...bathrooms were clean except for the gas...but showers weak and often only cold...main room needed paitning badly...i have stayed in many mexican hotels that were rustic but comfortable...this was unfortunately rustic only...

Room Tip: there are no good rooms until this place rehabs a good deal

Stayed at San Angel for 2 nights as part of a tour. My friend and I shared a room with double beds each. The bathroom, toilet and shower over bath, was small and tired, but had no issues with cleanliness. The basin is located in the main room, which is the bedroom. This room was quite spacious and more than adequate for using as a base and sleeping.

The building is very beautiful, keeping in with the city of Puebla. There is a beautiful courtyard. The rooms do not have air con or fans and ventilation is reliant on opening windows onto the shared walkways of the hotel. Although this is not particularly safe, it was the only option to obtain a breeze.

The hotel has a restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast was included with our accomodation, however I only ate there on one occasion as the toast was very crisp, almost like a cracker, which is not to my liking.

The hotel is well located to shopping and walking distance to the city centre. There are many places to eat close by.

The staff were friendly, but I had minimal contact with them. The rooms are serviced daily and bottled water supplied on each occasion. There is no room safe, but one located in the reception area. A number of our group used it without drama.

I enjoyed my time at this hotel, however only issue was the water which took some time to heat up.
