Thmorda Riverside Resort

We moved here after finding the level of accommodation in Koh Kong to be very low compared to our other stays in Cambodia. The Thmorda is probably the top of the heap in Koh Kong, it's best feature that it is well out of town and feels like you're in the middle of nowhere at a luxury resort. The rooms were basic, but nice - not nice enough to charge $30 in other Cambodian towns, but things were more expensive in Koh Kong. Food at the restaurant was pretty good and comparably priced to food in Koh Kong.

The setting for the dining and lounge area over the river was lovely. We spent most of our time just lounging in hammocks and reading.

The only problem was that the service was spotty and slow. Drinks took 15 minutes or so to make (for each drink) and meals took even longer. Can't imagine how things would go in high season. Fortunately, it's not too bad to sit and look out at the view on their comfortable dock while you wait.

WiFi worked well at the restaurant but was out of order in the guest room.

What a relaxing, rejuvenating resort. What a relief! After a not-so-great night at a guest house in the centre of Koh Kong my wife searched for a new place to sty, and discovered Thmorda. I am so glad she did. Set on the river's edge with a beautiful restaurant and cute, comfy guest rooms, we loved it here. We spent two nights, and barely left the resort. Why would you? The food is excellent, there is the river to jump in when it's hot, hammocks and chairs to lounge in when you are tired, and your own room is just a short walk from the river's edge.
The only thing that could be improved in the speed of service in the bar and restaurant, the young Khmer men working there seem to still be getting a handle on things (we were there in May 2014), but they were sweet, attentive, and since we were relaxing and watching the river flow past, it didn't really matter.

We spent only one night at Thmorda Garden, but were so impressed by Lisa Crosley that we felt compelled to provide a review.

Lisa went way above and beyond the call of duty. She gave suggestions on where to travel in Thailand, she arranged a cross border taxi for us, she drove us free of charge to the Cambodia/Thai border, and she actually physically walked us through to the Thailand side directly to the waiting taxi. She made the entire process as smooth as possible. We can’t thank her enough for her kindness and generosity.

Expect the insolence from a Parisian waiter when coming to Thmorda. They do quite good with a not very fancy and budget place. In terms of decoration and food Its fair, But when it comes to service, the place is far from friendly. Maybe they were just having too many guests a tthe restaurant. Unlucky some guests have to pay form it.

Thank you for taking your time to review Thmorda. As you did not mention anything about the rooms, we are assuming that you were our guests at Thmorda Crab House. We are very sorry to hear that our service did not meet your expectation. Since the start of The Khmer New Year to date, we have served more than 1,000 guests at the restaurant, some days with more than 200 guests per day. All the staff have been working from 07:00 am until nearly midnight every night without even 1 day off trying very hard to satisfy all our valued customers. It is our policy to provide the friendliest service and we are very proud to have been rewarded with excellent reviews by our other customers. We apologize on behalf of the staff for not showing you our best effort, hope that you will visit us again one day and let us provide you with our usual attentive service.

We stayed for 3 nights in the family room, with two separate bedrooms and bathrooms. The room was clean and well equipped. The resort is located along a magnificent river, with many activities available (swimming, free kayaking along the mangrove). It's 6km away from Koh Kong, on the other side of the river, but you enjoy a very quiet and natural surrounding. We didn't go for the paying activities offered by the resort (boat trips, island trip), which were far too expensive and not worth the asked price but rented motorbikes instead to discover the great Koh Kong area (fishing village, waterfalls) and had great fun. The staff was very friendly and helpful, even if the service during the meals was very slow and disorganized - because of some under-staffing (New Year). Thmorda Garden Riverside Resort is a great place to relax and a good base to discover the Koh Kong area.

This is really one of the most relaxing places I ever been too. Down at the pier there are huts with hammocks where people can stay the whole day, eating delicious crab, seafood or Thai dishes, sipping inexpensive beer, cocktails or fresh juices and go for a swim or a kayak ride from time to time. Thmorda Garden Riverside Resort offers simple, yet clean and cozy rooms for a very cheap price. All the staff and the owner are very friendly, helpful and knowledgable about the region. Day trips can be organised with the Thmorda Tour guide, who also happens to be a real seafood bbq professional (the lunch included in the waterfall trip was superb). You can also ask the owner who has many years of experience in travel and tourism in Thailand and Cambodia for other great travel destinations to continue your trip. I will definitely come back to Thmorda Garden Riverside some day.

We stayed here for three nights and we all loved it. Location is great, food is amazing and most importantly the staff and management are the friendliest and most helpful people that I met in Cambodia. They are four ladies running the place and they will help you with going around koh kong and even to the island. Its 5 minutes out of the city but they will pick u up for free.
