“Worth a detour.....”
Reviewed 17 April 2014

Had been "advised" (told!) to go and see the Whistler engraved windows by a relative...so we did. We scanned the windows in only a few minutes and then paused to read about them in a guide book. After that, it took another 30mins to do them justice because there is so much detail to each window.
Very atmospheric, immaculate little church.

“an unexpected discovery”
Reviewed 27 March 2014

I can't say we went to Moreton with the express idea of visiting this church, instead we went for a Sunday afternoon walk to enjoy the ford over the River Frome and to enjoy the thatched cottages and noticed folk walking down a side street ... so we investigated and came upon the church 'hidden' behind a stand of trees. The information board outside informed us T.E. Lawrence, aka "Lawrence of Arabia" was buried nearby. When we went inside what I expected to be a small, dark church, we were pleasantly surprised to discover the engraved windows all around, light was pouring in and it was a complete surprise. We were both quite pleased with the unexpected discovery - this lovely little church.

“Beautiful village church”
Reviewed 28 March 2013

C18 parish church in a pretty village; partially rebuilt after WWII bomb damage. Look out for the Victorian floor tiles, painted wall shields, and, above all, engraved glass windows by Sir Laurence Whistler.

While in the village, have a look at the thatched cottages in the short street opposite the church, and walk down to the River Frome - there is a footbridge, and for the brave-hearted, a ford!

“Spectacular engraved glass windows”
Reviewed 13 March 2013

Beautiful little church in country setting. Unique windows which have been engraved beautifully. The clear glass lets in lots of light of course, and makes this church quite special.
