“Heaven on a stick!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 September 2014

I want to thank all at Launceston Farm for their absolutely marvellous hospitality and for helping make our hen party extravaganza such a roaring success! I wanted the weekend to be relaxing, luxurious and sophisticated and Launceston Farm ticked all the boxes... It was a real bonus to be able to hire the entire house and have the place to ourselves. The bedrooms and accompanying views made for a lot of happy faces and the girls could not believe their luck when presented with delicious 3 course meals every night. The equally scrumptious breakfasts set us up well for the activity filled days ahead (of which there is plenty to do in the local area). Sarah and the gang could not have been more welcoming or accommodating... Even Tia the dog got in on the action and was only too willing to wear the mandatory novelty sunglasses! Thanks again for making my life as chief organiser a complete doddle... I even think the stags were slightly envious ;-)

We all absolutely loved having you to stay! It brings the house to life when we have a large party taking over the place. We had so much fun and we managed to pick up some top tips for another group of hens we have staying this winter. Thank you so much for choosing us.

The accommodation was beautiful in a lovely setting. We stayed in Hungry Hill which was a lovely room, but the shower was painfully powerful with a needle-like intensity. Sarah was the most unfriendly hostess we have ever encountered whilst staying at a B&B. She refused to take responsibility for our late breakfast which we requested early, & then provided a below average 'Full English', including what appeared to be pre-cooked or reheated bacon . . . Disappointing from a 'Cordon Bleu' cook.

I am very sorry to hear that your experience at Launceston Farm was not as positive as it should have been. Please allow me to address your concerns individually:

Power shower: I am sorry if the shower was too powerful for your tastes. We have never received any complaints about the pressure being too high, if anything we thought it might be a bit low. We have since experimented with the shower in question and cant find any fault. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and we will keep an eye on it.

Unfriendly hostess: Sarah is a very friendly and courteous person. We have been very busy this summer and the pressure is very high at this time of year which sometimes means that Sarah doesn't have sufficient time to chat to visitors as much as she would like to which is something she regrets. Next summer we are enrolling an additional member of staff at weekends to help with breakfasts to free Sarah up more to talk to guests.

Sub standard breakfast: It is extremely rare that we receive a complaint about breakfast. Hot food can be kept briefly on a hot plate if there is a pause between guests enjoying their fruit, yogurt etc and wanting their cooked breakfast. I am sorry if you found the bacon to be unsatisfactory. If you choose to visit us again we would like to offer you both a complimentary breakfast.

Thank you for your feedback. We are always striving to be better at what we do, and your comments will help us achieve this.

Met at the door by Sarah shown to our very large bedroom with the largest ensuite with roll top bath, double shower and twin basins. Sarah then gave us cake and tea and told us the best places to eat. The farm is in a stunning location and was really convenient for our visit to the Dorset steam fair as we could walk from the farm to the fair. The breakfasts were indeed good enough to last you most of the day. We were in the Orchard bedroom and would recommend it. Thank you Sarah for a wonderful stay

Room Tip: The Orchard room is reommended

Fabulous B&B that ticks all the boxes. Well equipped bedrooms and the bath ( in the bedroom!) a bonus. Sarah looks after her guests well and provides good tips on walks , pubs etc. The breakfast is a sumptuous delight with fresh farm eggs, bacon and sausages. A wecoming tray of tea and cakes is a special touch. The countryside surrounding the farm is exceptional and with lovely views from the bedrooms.. Would definitely recommend this B&B to friends and will certainly return.

Room Tip: We were in Scraggs which had the rolltop bath in the bedroom.

This is no ordinary bed and breakfast. Launceston farm is a hidden gem, an undiscovered piece of English heritage and the perfect location for a weekend away with friends or as a couple.
The location is stunning, the food excellent. By the time we booked the roll top bath rooms were unavailable, but Parsonage and Hungry Hill didn't disappoint. Both had gorgeous decor (Sarah's taste is excellent), and a lovely shower room.
Breakfast was the best I've had in a bed and breakfast - no surprise given that Sarah is a cordon bleu chef! My only regret is that we didn't get the opportunity to book in for one of her suppers - she only holds them 2 nights a week.
We drove down from London late one evening to get to the farm and Sarah was very accommodating to our late arrival - no fuss at all, and she even popped across once we had arrived to say hello and make sure everything was alright.
All in all an absolute success. We will certainly be back!

It's rare for us to come back to the same place twice, but well worth a second visit. Lovely comfortable accomodation. A working rural setting, with sheep, cows and chickens around the farm. Thank you Sarah & all at Launceston farm

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Launceston Farm. We received a wonderful welcome with tea and cake overlooking stunning fields. Our room was beautiful, with amazing countryside views. It's clear that a lot of thought has been put into the whole place. Everything was immaculately clean, we had everything we needed and there were some really sweet finishing touches, such as the yummy shortbread in the room. A particular highlight was the roll top bath. The breakfasts were delicious and the location superb. The perfect place for a romantic weekend away!

Room Tip: We stayed in Scraggs, mainly because we wanted the roll top bath.
