“... stretch out a little”
Reviewed 29 November 2013

Wooo wooo ----had i know that Kharghar valley was spread- stretched out so far and wide, i would have made a small home in its vicinity. yes, it was a virgin area untouched by man and created by the all mighty architect -GOD.

Mans intervention in the form of the valley golf course will make you fall in love with it.

The greens groves, the floral patches, make it an hot selling spot. The waterfalls, offer a scenic view during the monsoons when the hills bow there heads below the black cirrus clouds.

That area was know to me before development actually started, now its being maintained pretty well.

The golf course gives competition to the central park stretch.

Especially, its a good jogging delight, the entry is not free for all.

Mastered by the CIDCO park planners, one can stretch out and play golf , peacefully is the best compliment i can give.

“Not-ready-for-primetime, but at least it's close by”
Reviewed 11 April 2013

If you're a golf in the Mumbai area, you have very little in the way of golf courses to chose from. Presidency and Willingdon in the immediate area, and Aamby Valley and Oxford about 2.5 hours away. That leaves a very good niche for Kharghar but they're not ready for primetime just yet,

After years of struggle and almost another year to open, the course has nine playable holes out of a total eleven completed. The two other holes are reserved for practice and the driving range. Based on the resistance to sell their land by hold-out landowners, and the national forest opposition, I don't believe the remaining 7 holes will be completed in my lifetime.

Given the lack of other playing options in the Mumbai area, Kharghar is worth giving a shot to. However, know that the course still lacks: 1) a clubhouse or any amenities, 2) sufficient golf buggies for rental. You essentially pay one of the "caddies" to carry your bags at a rate of 150 INR per nine holes. Also, don't expect any golf advise from the caddies as they are new to both the course and to the entire concept of golf. However, the course is challenging in it's own right and difficult in some areas. One thing to look out for are the many unknown hazards you'll encounter on this course. a) nothing is really staked out so you'll need to make your own assessment of hazards, b) buffalo/cows often graze on the fairways, creating hazards or leaving their own (droppings), c) there are several unmarked water hazards that cross the fairways - unless you're familiar or your "caddy" let you know, they will find your ball, d) hole number 5 has a road from the course entrance to people's houses crossing it. Expect lots of people/cars/motor bikes, etc in you line of sight.

Other than that, this is a course worth playing. And if you want to play 18, just play the available 9 again.
