We were staying at Deerpark and I remembered someone had recommended coming to this pub for food. It was a horrible rainy Saturday and we were on our way back from the carvern caves when we decided to try find this place. And we are very glad we did! They were able to fit us in, as it wasn’t too busy. There wasn’t a large selection on the menu, but what was on there was good. We both had steaks, and they were perfectly cooked. My partner who usually has a bad steak (it’s a running joke between us now) he was amazed at how good his steak was, the best he’s ever had. The sauce was my favourite.
The staff were really friendly, and got us to try a couple of their gins. They have an extensive gin menu which was a great little surprise as you don’t normally expect that from a country pub.
We couldn’t stay for puddings as we had to meet friends but otherwise we would have done. I would highly recommend this place, it’s a little gem!

Came here recently whilst staying in Looe. We pre booked a table. On arrival the landlady didn't even acknowledge us, even though my husband had spoke to her earlier in the day to make the booking. We were given a table in the corner in the children's dining area (not really appropriate with teenage children). It felt like we were in 'the naughty corner' to be honest because thereafter we were ignored. Had to wait ages for our drinks and an age for the food, no apology. The food was ok but overpriced for what it was. Sadly it seems one of those places that gets a few good reviews on here and it goes to their head, then get arrogant and forget customer values. I even overheard one of the young waitresses moaning about another table at the top of her voice, this was in the presence of the landlord/landlady. Shocking. Clearly all need lessons in customer service. On the plus side I liked the idea of separate dining areas for people with dogs.

We were a party of 7 adults and 3 young children and could not fault our experience. The menu is varied and interesting and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals - highlights were the prawn and crab starter, the lamb shank and the hake with prawns and a lobster sauce. Vegetables were lovely and lemon posset for desert was mouthwatering. Service was friendly and attentive. Recommend without any hesitation

Very welcoming and friendly. Food was very pleasant and good value for money. Staff were very helpful with one our party, who is vegetarian and gluten free. Also there was a reasonable amount of choice for her. Overall, a very pleasing experience.
