“The perfect cottage retreat for families and couples alike”

We have just returned from a lovely long weekend at Trengrove Cottage near Duloe. The cottage is very pretty and tastefully appointed to a very high standard throughout. Everything worked properly. Spotless bathrooms, constant hot water and a kitchen that delivered everything we needed. The log burner created a wonderfully cosy atmosphere in which to relax after spectacular coastal walks, (notably the walk from Lantic Bay to Fowey.) Attention to detail and a "nothing is too much trouble" attitude from the owner Ian and brother Derek, sets the standard for a truly memorable holiday experience.

If you are looking to truly get away from it all and want a peaceful and relaxing time, Trengrove is your place.
Our two dogs loved the proximity of plenty of walks and we enjoyed exploring the local coastal villages and countryside.
Ian is a great host and obviously cares about the experience of his guests.

“Super-comfy cottage in a tranquil setting”

We had a lovely stay with friends at Trengrove. The cottage is in a beautifully quite little hamlet with views of the surrounding hills, with walks straight out the front door. The house was itself was great to stay in: comfy beds and equipped with everything we needed to relax and do a bit of cooking e.g. using great fresh seafood bought from Looe. Ian was incredibly helpful too, suggesting great things to do and their custom Cornwall guide book was very well used. Would recommend a walk to The Plough in Duloe from the cottage, we had a lovely lunch there. We'd be more than happy to go back.

“Tranquil charming rural cottage”

This is a charming house in a quiet rural setting that has been restored to a very high standard. It is very well equipped and with lovely forest and rural road walks on the door step. Ideal for a relaxing break and still close enough to Cornwall's picturesque towns and spectacular coastal walks. The host is very attentive and ensured that everything was as it should be. Well worth a visit.

“4 weeks in 13 months with 5th booked later in summer - bliss for dog and humans”
Reviewed 23 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We have found a quiet, gorgeous, tranquil sanctuary, with all we and our dog(s) want and need to relax at any time of year. TRengrove Cottage our holiday home of choice, does on arrival at the dedicated, dog friendly safe parking area look very chocolate box pretty with well maintained everything, views to the front and the baa of sheep and chatter of swifts overhead. Having stopped off in Looe for fish from Pengelly's, Ice cReam from Treleavens in a Holiday pot or fresh meat from Mr O'Keefe at Pelynt Premiere Stores. We leap out of the vehicle, and after a quick wander up the adjacent lane, head down the path to the cottage and the lovely Welcome tray for humans and dogs, with milk in the fridge and Cornish tea, coffee and biscuits, plus dog treats and bowl for instant water slurp, we can relax, turn on TV, radio or read our Welcome Note and peruse the Visitors Guidebook, while we wait for either a supermarket home delivery, or just unpack our own hoard of goodies and plan the following days itinerary. THe cottage is always immaculate, it has everything you need as get you in, loo rolls, kitchens bits and excellent wifi etc it is well maintained and any issues can easily be resolved by using the contact detail. We have holidayed in the hamlet for 25 years visiting over 45 times, why, are we stuck in the mud types? Well perhaps, but actually cleanliness, cottage amenities,, the welcome, doggy heaven the location and access to all we enjoy is important. We like fresh fish, the award winning Sarah's Pasties in (Looe), good meat, local produce, one of Cornwalls best mini markets, a POst Office, Cash Machine, maps for local walks can all be found in Pelynt. THe fabulous Quay Bakery in Fowey, smoked produce at Charlestone, year round dog friendly beaches at Seaton, Par Sands by Fowey and Portcothan to the North (by St Eval candle Company.. Oh such lovely smells and excellent Loui) are all easily reached and family friendly with good parking. The Grand Gardens are all accessible, some have excellent walks to the sea, the Tim Smit Heligan and Eden complexes are local, and Truro and Falmouth all easy to the South. Popular Padstow and Port Issac and the excellent Porteath Bee Centre are all close to Wadebridge and the Camel Trail etc. Supermarkets Waitrose at Saltash and Truro, M&S Truro and Plymouth, locally use Pelynt Syores and Premier Stores they are complementary nit clashing stores, there is Morrisons at Liskeard or Bodmin both have Fuel at good prices as does Tesco at St Austell, there are Asdas and Aldis too, further afield, Sainsburys at Plymstock and Wadebride . We have used deliveries from Tesco and Sainsburys over the years. We potter, we strike out, we curl up with one of the house DVDs and rain, gales, sun and shine we relax and enjoy all Trengrove has to offer. Owls hoot, the buzzards circle lazily above and the sunrises are fab and it does feel like a home, that is because it is a family's holiday home, we do our best to respect that and treat nice things well. Only downside is mobile phone reception is non existent so use wifi for VOIP (TuGo for us) and you can be in contact as you wish. There are some exciting plans to add to the space at Trengrove with works starting in October/November 16. Yes we have tried a number of other luxury locations over the last 5 years but for a proper carpeted, curtained, comfortable but welcoming cottage we like Trengrove, just be prepared to respect the country codes it is a farming and horse riding area and the lanes are their roads too. We like but perhaps that is obvious.
