“A home from home.”
Reviewed 29 April 2018 for a stay in April 2018

What a gorgeous cottage, beautifully equipped and maintained and just perfect for our 3-generation family holiday. Be aware that some reversing on a single track road may be necessary, as although traffic is rare, we did meet a tractor and trailer one day!

Downstairs is very comfortable and although the heating is very efficient, we appreciated the logs in the wood burner on a couple of misty and damp evenings. The kitchen was great to work in and it was a pleasure to be able to cook proper meals, before eating them sat round the large dining table. We soon felt completely 'at home' and relaxed in style; even the garden got some use, although it wasn't the best week for sunshine. Everyone slept really well in the comfortable beds and the en-suite and family bathroom always had piping hot water.

Communication with Ian was excellent, right from the initial booking; he is a most courteous host. The personal welcome note - with tea and shortbread - was a lovely addition, and all the info you need - whether on equipment or places to visit, is at hand.

We all agreed we would have loved to have stayed longer than our 4 nights - it's definitely calling us back - and there are so many other places for us to visit nearby.

“Cottage delight”
Reviewed 16 April 2018 for a stay in April 2018

Spent a lovely 5 nights at Trengrove Cottage. The cottage is well located, on the side of a valley at the end of a very quiet road/track with only a couple of other houses in sight. Only 20 min drive to Looe, Polperro or Fowey.

The cottage itself is tastefully decorated, all the cooking utensils you could wish for, comfortable sofas and a wood burner. Very snug! If needed, there's a decent wifi, Netflix and in each bedroom a TV (with inbuilt DVD). Despite all this one of our children stated that being in the top bunk was their holiday highlight.

We hadn't quite appreciated that Trevenna is attached to the back of the cottage. With thick stone walls there was no noticeable noise and it would work well if you wanted to holiday with the in-laws.

Ian was an excellent remote host. Providing all the information we needed, quickly answering any queries and genuinely wanting to ensure we were happy. We'd thoroughly recommend a stay in Trengrove

“What a great place”
Reviewed 28 December 2017 for a stay in December 2017

Trengrove Cottage is a wonderful location for a relaxed getaway. Ian is a great host and really made us feel welcome. The cottage was spotless, and it was the perfect setting for our family's Christmas. The cottage is not far from the coast (20 minute drive) and we were able to enjoy Looe. We had a great hike along the coast. We were also able to have a nice walk into Looe with a bus back to Pelynt and walked back to the cottage from there. If you are looking for a quite place to have a wonderful vacation, this is it.

Many thanks Ian for the great vacation we spent in your house. Trengrove is a lovely place and the location is fantastic. The house is very clean and decorated so nice in all details. The equipment is great (e.g. there is also a smoothie blender so that we enjoyed our daily smoothies which we know from home) and the tips from Ian (there was also a detailed personal guide book) were so helpful to explore all the fantastic spots in the near surrounding. We would definitely recommend this place to friends and family and love to come back again one day.

Dear Hermann,
Many thanks for taking the time to write a review. In spite of the 4 stars you seem to only mention some negative and slightly confusing items which for the benefit of other potential guests, who have not yet had the chance to read our other reviews, we would like to clarify…
I’m afraid the sound of distant farm dogs is part of country life along with the bleating sheep and birdsong.
Regarding directions. As the cottage is in a secluded hamlet and SatNav is unreliable in the countryside we send every guest very accurate directions with photographs which clearly describe the way, and we stress they should print and use these directions.
‘A better description of the essentials (bathroom and kitchen)’. All the essentials provided are listed online in the cottage description.
We have never had a problem with the key safe, we have checked it, it is in full working order and the key was locked in it correctly when you left.
‘A wardrobe was not available’. There is a wardrobe in every bedroom. But perhaps this is a translation error of the German ‘Garderobe’ (or ‘Flurgarderobe’?) as in coat rack? If so, this is something we are aware of and when the ground floor refurbishment (including a new kitchen) is completed in November we will be adding one.
Electricity adaptors. There are two such adaptors supplied for guests in the drawer, although the majority of guests coming from overseas tend to bring there own.
‘The radiator in the bathroom is very hot’. There are warnings in the cottage and all information is included in the Guest Manual.
I am sorry you feel a personal welcome was missed, we operate a self check-in. Apologies but as we do not live on site and arrival times vary we simply cannot be there to welcome all our guests. We do however contact every guest the morning after arrival to check all is well.
Our manager called at the cottage during your visit to check you were happy and enjoying your stay, providing the opportunity to air any concerns. He also explained he would take care of the waste and you need not concern yourself about it.
Once again many thanks for taking the time to write a review. It certainly was a pleasure for us to host you and your family. Myself and the team all sincerely hope you took home some positive and happy memories of your time with us.
Kindest regards,
Ian & the Team

“The perfect cottage retreat for families and couples alike”

We have just returned from a lovely long weekend at Trengrove Cottage near Duloe. The cottage is very pretty and tastefully appointed to a very high standard throughout. Everything worked properly. Spotless bathrooms, constant hot water and a kitchen that delivered everything we needed. The log burner created a wonderfully cosy atmosphere in which to relax after spectacular coastal walks, (notably the walk from Lantic Bay to Fowey.) Attention to detail and a "nothing is too much trouble" attitude from the owner Ian and brother Derek, sets the standard for a truly memorable holiday experience.
