Las Turquezas
Reviewed 16 August 2012

We stayed here for 1 month here with our two kiddos. It truly was the perfect spot. Katrina and Lucano were so responsive and attentive to any requests. You are walking distance to Bacocho beach and Carrizalillo(the most beautiful beach in Puerto Escondido). It is an easy cab ride to Zicatela(more touristy part of town). The apartments were so clean and it was easy to to prepare food. The price was very reasonable. The pool is so nice to use as well. I highly recommend you choose Las Turquezas if you are staying in Puerto Escondido.

I have travel to Puerto Escondido several times and my stay at las Turquezas has being the best. It has an amazing location. The view is gorgeous, you are so close to the beach, to restaurants, stores and even and ice cream store.
Katrin and Lucano the host and owners make you feel right at home with their warmth. They also keep the place really clean, they are always helpful and everything is set up for having a great time.
The rooms are comfortable, they have fresh air and as I said before great view from almost every corner.
Las Turquezas is where I wish I was now. Lili, CA

We were looking for an attractive 2-bedroom apartment and this fit the bill perfectly! Nicely designed, airy, spacious and spotless with a user-friendly kitchen as well as an ample terrace with hammock and large dining table. Plus a truly lovely pool. Owners and staff are friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Advance booking recommended.

Room Tip: Best ocean view from the top floor (one bedroom) apartments

Our first stay at Las Turquezas was in 2009 we were there for 5 weeks. John and Lucan our hosts and owners were the best in client care and the day to day management of our home away from home. The first thing was the price, we found it to very reasonable given where you are and how close the ocean really is. On our first visit we were shocked to find out there was no airconditioning well how were we suppose to stay cool in the 80 to 90 (32 celcius) degree heat. Las Turquezas was built with this in mind and we found there was simply no use for them. The breeze and roof fans kept our house remarkably cool. The unit itself was clean and spacous its decor is friendly and easy to keep clean. The pool ah that wonderful pool, we basically lived in the pool we found the ocean is very inviting but the problem was leaving that pool. The staff is attentive and there is live in manager who oversees any issues that come up. We stayed in 2009 and 2011 and we have reserved for 2012 .
Our family believes that if your on your own or with a family then Las Turquezas is the place for you.

We vacationed in Pto Escondido numerous times and like a good wine, the place gets better with every passing year (or maybe it is just our subjective opinion?). In particular, our most recent three winters ('09, '10, '11 - a total of about 10 months) were especially memorable due to our choice of the accommodations: Las Turquezas. The condos were still under construction, when we saw the building for the first time in 2008 - and we could recognise that it was a jewel in the making. We decided that this was going to be ‘our nest’ in Puerto from now on.
And so it is our pleasure to share our impressions of Las Turquezas:

THE LOCATION: in the residential and not very ‘touristy’ area of town, high above the water, allowing great views of lush greenery in the foreground, and the blue Pacific with its whales and sunsets beyond... A sandy beach called Playa Coral is immediately below and is accessible by a foot path. A bit further, past rocky coves a long, wide and mostly empty Playa Bacocho is awaiting - the favourite destination for long walks at sunset, fine golden sand and tireless, thundering and spectacular waves...
The other no less important aspect of the location is its relative proximity to Puerto Escondido’s mercado (market), shops, supermarkets and services. The distance can be covered on foot in about 20-25min - important, if you don’t have the wheels! Rinconada’s shops and restaurants are even closer.
THE BUILDING: ocean front, three levelled, cream coloured, imposing yet not overbearing. Two apartments per floor. all linked by a central, open air, breezy staircase. Each unit faces three sides. Each of the two ground floor units are split level providing ocean views even from the bedrooms (!) and have ample patios while the upper ones have huge, spacious, shady balconies/terraces that run the whole length of each apartment and are effectively the outdoor, open air extensions of the living space. Each outdoor area is outfitted with patio tables, chairs and a hammock. What a great spot to host friends for dinner or to enjoy coffee in the morning while scanning the ocean for the flying fish or whales.
THE POOL: immediately in front of the building, large, rectangular (& always crystal clear) with kids’ extension to the side, is fringed by greenery and flowers, separating the property from the street and providing privacy...
THE INTERIORS: ample and comfortable 'home away from home'.
THE DECOR: clean and contemporary with Mexican accents
THE BEST CONVENIENCES: large kitchens, massive terraces, hammock hooks inside each unit, keyless/code locks...
THE GENERAL FEEL: great design concept, simple, functional, airy and so very well though out.
& LAST BUT NOT LEAST - the managers/staff team:
classy, attentive, friendly and accommodating and most of the time: present on site!
