“Love, love, love.”
Reviewed 23 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

My husband and I stayed here with my mum and two kids for three nights and it just wasn't long enough. We were travelling from Australia and upon arriving in London found out that our Shustoke accommodation had been cancelled. What a blessing that ended up being! The Coach House was beautiful, the welcome hamper with homemade bread, jam and brownies was devine and the views were amazing but what really made this place were the owners. Odette, Annie, Geoff and of course George were amazing. They were friendly and welcoming without imposing on our stay. Really lovely people. They were happy for us to use the yummy produce in their veggie garden and helped the kids in the garden (thanks Bec). I was worried that the kids may have been bored but they played on the tennis courts and fed the pigs and just generally roamed looking for adventures (and raspberries)! We were sad to leave and hope to come back some day. Oh and the eggs left for us were honestly the best eggs I've ever had! I would highly recommend staying here. Absolutely worth every cent.

Thanks for visiting the Coach House - we are so thrilled you enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you and your family back again! Thanks for using the veggies from the garden and the eggs from the chickens, we are glad you enjoyed them! It was so nice that your children enjoyed the tennis court and the animals around the farm too. We hope to see you again soon!

We rented the coach house and one of the lodges as a large group of friends for a wedding in the area. The process of arranging the rental and arrival etc was very relaxed and we were really impressed with the standard of accommodation. It is very well decorated and in a beautiful setting. The owner and other residents on the estate were all very friendly and we really enjoyed seeing the pigs, chickens and cows! The hampers on arrival were very generous and everyone agreed that we had picked the perfect spot. Thank you very much.

I picked this place as a picture perfect setting for a proposal to my long suffering girlfriend.
Aside from the strapping young farm hands wandering around, reducing my view of the odds of a successful response, I could not have picked a more awesome sight to get a dirty left knee.

Right next to the canal this is a perfect spot for anyone wanting to get out of the damp boating environment for a night or three of extreme luxury, wholesomeness and a taste of the good life. No Margo in sight here though. Tom and Barbara (played by Geoff and Odette) are more than willing to share a piece of their idyllic existence with guests. Free roaming chickens, cows, deer, guinea fowl, pigs, dogs, mini-pigs and squirrels feed an "Animals of Farthing Wood" aura. No developers in sight here though - just the convenience of the M1 a perfect 8 miles drive for anyone looking for a classy overnight stop on their way to the forbidden North.

From the Wood to Downton Abbey. Female fans of this popular but boring British TV show will be shivering at the knees as they patrol the grounds either looking down over the rolling countryside or back towards the manor house framed by glossy coated dogs.

Anyway - she said yes and you should stay here.

“Fantastic stay at the Old Coach House”

The Old Coach House is a beautiful building which has been lovingly been restored by the family, who are on site and readily available and cheerfully helpful. The Coach House was lovely, clean and very well equipped. 4 of us stayed for 2 nights and it was a wonderful experience. The setting is beautiful and we had such fun exploring the local countryside and had a great walk along the canal. We shall be back!
