“Very large and beautiful b&b”
Reviewed 15 July 2013 via mobile

What can I say about the beautiful b&b. It's on a quiet lane right next to river black with ducks waiting to greet you! Looking at the b&b from the outside it looks small but on entering its like being in Dr who's tardis, it's huge. We was greeted by the lovely owner and welcomed in. We had chosen the garden room which as its name suggests looks over a garden. The room is the biggest bedroom I've ever seen. The on suite bathroom had a amazing power shower with multiple heads and the bed was very comfortable. We had a very good sleep and had arranged to have breakfast at 9am in the conservatory. Full English of course with eggs laid by there own chickens who came and said hello at the conservatory door! Nothing was to much trouble and I only wish we had been staying longer. I think the one thing to remember is that is a home not just a b&b it's got a lived in vibe and if you don't like friendly dogs etc don't come. We even took our own plates out, not because we had to but because we wanted to it was like we lived there and that was just for one night! So all I can say is go give swan house a try you might never want to leave!

swan house is in a lovely stting and the room we had was lovely , except for the bathroom was not at all clean the toilet was dirty and the shower had feet marks in it the mirrors were all covered in toothpaste splash and very dirty the sugar bowl was nearly empty and had all coffee granules in it ,iwe did not take a shower in the morning or have any tea or coffee . There was no milk and i did ask as we were leaving for a wedding i could not take any back up to room . the breakfast was ok my partner does not eat soft eggs and as it was just bought to us and not asked what we wanted or how we wanted things cooked , yes daniele seemed a lovely lady but was heading off to france she left us in the house to finish breakfast and let ourselves out . The bedroom was lovely although a bit dusty but did not smell of dogs like the house downstairs , as we dont have animals as i have an allergy to dogs hair i was a bit worried ,

We stayed at Swan House on saturday as we had a family party. I read the other reviews before booking but did'nt realise home from home was just that, felt like i was staying in a distant relatives house. The house was lovely, but the bedroom was like stepping into a room vacated by a young child 30yrs ago, everything from pictures to toys stil there. The bathroom was first and thru that, the bedroom, no room numbers, key etc. Had a coffee in the room and looked closely at the coffe jar and it expired 2006 !! We said breakfast at 8.30 and it was put on the table straight away, and the bacon was tough, and apart from the egg it was cold, all in all a lovely home, and a friendly landlady, but for us not like a b&b and certainly not worth £70. We often stay around the country in B&B's for weekend getaways and have had cheaper and better on several occasions.

We stayed in Swan House over the weekend for a friend's birthday party. The house is picture postcard pretty. Stream at the front, where the ducks and swans luxuriate in crystal water water; beautiful garden at the back.

Daniele is a lovely friendly landlady, very knowledgable of the area. The dogs were well behaved and adorable (and I am not even an animal lover). The breakfast in the conservatory sets off the day very nicely.

Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Riverview room, with ensuite bathroom. The twin room does not have an ensuite.

Stayed overnight for a wedding happening locally. Lovely dogs, some interested chickens and a wonderful friendly owner. Clean, very quiet, beautiful house, and a very friendly and personable landlady. If you want something with a local flavour, to be able to chat to the owner, play with animals and all in a picturesque setting then this is recommended. If you want something corporate and very ‘service based’ then look elsewhere.

My wife and I stayed at this place last year, I wouldn't recommend it. Their dog stinks. The owner seemed to resent our presence. It was like staying with a crusty old auntie, who hadn't bothered to clean the room properly. There was dirty nail clippers and a half used tube of KY jelly in the bathroom cabinet. If you are going to turn your house into a B&B then you have to be pleasant to people and get over the fact that it's not really your house any more when people are paying for a room.

We stayed at this Bed and Breakfast for one night in order to attend a family funeral, and the owner Danielle could not have been more lovely. The house is amazing, situated just by the river and it has the most beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms. Our room was massive with windows on three sides and a gorgeous view over the walled garden. The bed was so comfortable, with crisp white linen, just what we needed after a traumatic day. The shower room was huge with a lovely walk in shower and lots of towels. The village has a couple of pubs and several take aways and we were able to eat in the kitchen whilst stroking the two resident dogs - a great stress reliever! Breakfast was lovely - with freshly made bread and homemade jam.
We felt so lucky to have stumbled across this lovely home and its wonderful owner at such a stressful time. I would recommend it to anyone.
