4 of 5 bubbles Review of La Luna de Shiva

La Luna de Shiva
Ranked #70 of 117 Restaurants in Ixtapa
Cuisines: Mexican
Description: Loma del Mar's main restaurant, Luna de Shiva, is canopied by a lofty palapa lit by an immense crystal chandelier that reflects in the swimming pool. White linen tablecloths, Asian statuary and a backdrop of lush gardens and forest add to the airy atmosphere. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks are served with continuous service. By day you observe happy golfers playing the 14th hole of Ixtapa's Palmar Golf Course adjacent to the hotel gardens. By night the illuminated pools, waterfalls and fountains glow in a concert of ever-changing color combinations (i.e. chromotherapy). Our chef creates innovative continental cuisine featuring choice meats, or catch-of-the-day seafood direct from the fishermen. His shellfish cocktails and tiritas, a uniquely Zihuatanejo dish, are memorable, deserts are endearing, and he proves his innate expertise with authentic high Mexican cuisine.

“Lovely place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2013

I went to this restaurant this afternoon. It is a charming casual type restaurant overlooking the pool and the golf course. The food was good, it is a cafe type food, they had salad, sandwiches and also main dishes. They were able to accommodate my order which was nice. Although they had a private birthday party so the restaurant was busy, that did not hinder from their excellent service. This place closes at 5:00 p.m. I enjoyed my lunch at this restaurant, however, the wine was expensive. A glass of wine cost 85 pesos, i was by myself and i had a bill of 350 pesos. I had 2 glasses of wine, a lemonade and the main dish. Next time, i will not have wine. Oh yes, they had techno music!! It seems that techno music is popular in restaurants and hotels around the world, maybe the latest fad!!

“Absolutely amazing”

This is the best restaurant in Ixtapa by far. I was truly surprised by the quality of food and service. Intimate atmosphere, nice view at night with light colours changing every few seconds (awesome light reflection in the pool). Awesome desserts.

“Best in Ixtapa Mexico”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 December 2008

This is a very special place. Out of all the lovely places my wife and I have eaten through out the world I can honestly say this is the best epicurean delight I have experienced. It is hidden away which is one of the best things about it. The service, cleanliness, the special attention during dinner, the extremely romantic setting, the music, the pricing which is moderate for a five star eating establishment, and the best dishes fish, meat and deserts. I can honesty recommend this to most. The only flaw is they have a limited wine selection which hopefully they will improve. Ask for Miguel and tell him Sheri and Gene said to go. They also have another location called La Pampa which is there Argentine steak house that has the best view of Ixtapa and will provide a car to take you there, it's a five minute trip. It was a good meal and next year I will try the steak.
