“Big waves for boogie boarding or body surfing”
Reviewed 20 March 2014

This beach is perfect for playing in the waves. Uncrowded, no rocks or sharp things to step on, great for beach walking. When the lifeguards put out black flags, though, be careful as the undertow and riptides can be strong and unpredictable.

“beautiful - but”
Reviewed 19 March 2014

Beautiful beach. Limited access if you are not staying at one of the resorts. No cafes etc line the beach - the resorts from the beach and you have to be staying there or buy a day pass to use their facilities. Not a swimming beach. red flag up lots of the time bc of waves and rip tides. No shade on the beach unless you have your own parasol or are at one of the resort properties.

“Playa el Palmar”
Reviewed 9 March 2014

This was a welcome respite as our beach was not swimmable our entire vacation. (we were staying close to Playa Linda)
Beautiful clean wide beach. Chairs available to rent on the public portion. We were there on a fairly calm day and didn't find the waves to be a problem.
If we come back to Ixtapa, we will take a hotel along this beach.

“Blue Flag beach”
Reviewed 1 March 2014

Playa el Palmar is one of the best beaches in the world. That is why it has the blue flag designation. It is free of trash, two miles long and the son shines all winter. Don't go swimming the surf is dangerous. The walk is the best

“Busy busy beach”
Reviewed 23 February 2014

This is a busy beach, with all the activities you want. Lots of parasailing, good for people watching and long for walking. The surf can really pound sometimes, so not the best place to try and go swimming.
