January 14-28, 2019
This vacation was our third time staying at Las Brisas and again, we were not disappointed with our experiences. As with every vacation, there were subtle differences but nothing that would spoil an almost perfect holiday in paradise. We dined at Portofino, the Italian restaurant, twice. The remainder of our alacarts were at Las Brisas II which which presented excellent food choices and outstanding service. We did not choose El Mexicans based on our poor experiences from prior years. The main buffet area was satisfactory for dinner and outstanding for breakfast.
We are still thrilled with the spectacular view of the ocean and surroundings vistas. The beach is second to none. Perhaps the only disappointment was that the beach service was hit and miss depending on who was working that day.
We are already hoping to plan another vacation at Las Brisas next year.

For the second part of the our honeymoon we moved from the Holiday Inn to Las Brisas Ixtapa. Wow! Reviews I had read earlier did not lie. Our (and every) room had a breathtaking view of the private beach and the ocean. The room we chose was very clean, spacious with a hammock on the deck to go along with the spectacular view. The bed was super comfortable and a ceiling fan to boot for a cool sleep.

As all-inclusive customers we had two al la carte dinners for the for days we were there. The buffet food was more than adequate but the al la carte meals were brilliant including the service. There was also a great little lobby bar perfect for watching the sunset every evening with excellent service from our server Martin!

We enjoyed the pools but the private beach is awesome. The waves are quite daunting and not for the faint of heart. Once out past the break you can float around quite peacefully though. It also had awesome beach service from the staff especially Jose. Our favorite was the ceviche having it multiple times on our visit.

Overall this was a great resort and stay and hope to return one day.

This hotel is meant for people who want a quiet secluded get-away. The hotel has its own beach and an adults-only pool. There is also a family pool but in general the facilities are very quiet and peaceful. The pools and beach are situated many steps down (250 to be exact) from the main lobby. (You can also take an elevator). The steps go through a tropical forest of sorts, with multiple bird species chirping at you as you make your way down to the pools or beach.

We were at this hotel several years ago and i did not want to come back because of their sloppy practices with respect to recycling and sustainability in general. But they have really improved and i would come back here again. They recycle most items through their bin system but also have a facility out back where they further sort the hotel waste.
Many of the staff go out of their way to be friendly - Balthazar in Brisas II, Diana in Bellavista - thank you for your hospitality.

The food at the specialty restaurants was quite good. but we found the buffet food boring after a few days.

Room tip: All rooms have a balcony facing the ocean so it is hard to go wrong.

We stayed here a year ago and posted a detailed review (they aren't letting us link to it or I would). We ordinarily don’t return to someplace we’ve been before – at least not this soon – as there are so many wonderful places to visit, but we enjoyed ourselves so much last year we did return just a year later. Our impressions from last year still hold – great sunsets, great beach and great staff.

We again stayed on the Brisas Beach Club plan and thoroughly enjoyed our morning continental breakfasts and evening hors d’oeuvres on the 20th floor as the sun set over the Pacific. Servers Alejandro and Pedro are super attentive and gracious.

There were so may other wonderful things about our stay (did I mention the fabulous beach and staff) but we’d just be repeating our review from a year ago.

No vacation is perfect, so here are a couple of things that were not ideal or to be aware of:

• The beach service was great a year ago and often the same this year, but we had a couple of days where service was spotty. They seemed to oscillate, one day regularly asking if we wanted some more drinks or food, while other days believing we wanted to be left alone.
• On our first Saturday there was a huge influx of locals starting about noon – some thought many of them were on day passes, but others appeared to be hotel guests. This happened on a Saturday last year as well. Regardless, the beach was very crowded that day. If you take a day to leave the resort to do something else, you may want to do that on a Saturday.
• We don’t generally do the AI and didn’t here as we wanted to eat in Zihua or Ixtapa most evenings. One night we stayed at the resort and had dinner at Las Brisas II, which has a gorgeous view over the ocean and has the potential to be very romantic. This was our worst dining experience of our 8 days in Ixtapa/Zihua. We ordered one of the high-end entrees on the menu and it was tasteless and far from a good cut of meat.

But these are easy to work around and we’ll be back for our third visit.

Room tip: Consider staying at the Brisas Beach Club if not going AI.
