The president of Mexico came to town and played here last Saturday. I live off the 16th tee and it was the first time in 10 years I saw someone actually rake the sand trap on 16. Thousands of man hours were spent making the course look great for the pres so I need to get out and play it soon before it returns to it's poorly maintained status. The traps are a joke... Use your putter. The cart paths are in bad shape and carts are in short supply.

Despite all that I like playing the course. It's overpriced but we get friends together and buy 50 rounds for 660 pesos each, cart included which is not bad.

Played 5 of our 7 days between the two courses in Ixtapa. Particularly enjoyed the Campo de Golf. I must mention Adrian our caddy. Great fellow and very helpful, especially reading the greens. Had him caddy each round at the Campo. Be sure to ask for Adrian when making a tee time. He's great.
The course is interesting and fair with few surprises besides an occasional croc. Mornings can be busy. After 2PM it's wide open at both courses. The Marina course is in rough shape, but good greens.

We knew going in not to expect a finely manicured course, with expections set low we were not disappointed. We got a package discount from our hotel (foursome) and the price including cart and clubs was within reason. They do not have enough carts to support a full rack of golfers and this seemed to be the main bottleneck. The course layout is interesting, the greens and the grain are much different and challenging. There are some big crocs on the course so keep your eyes open. It is strange when a pickup truck drives down the middle of your fairway and it turns out to be the drink cart (maybe that tells you something about course condition). Think of your average public course in the US and you'll have a good comparison. We had a good time, no complaints, good service.

We played golf almost every day we were on vacation!! The package price for 20 rounds was a great value! We loved the staff including our caddy Manuel!! Julio at the front desk was helpful and friendly! Saul head caddy was accommodating! Roberto mixes a great Bloody Mary and Alberto the head pro was awesome! The rental clubs are a little janky so bring your own if you are picky. Watch out for the crocs. I hit one so I took a drop on that hole! Nice layout and green fees are cheaper than the marina course.
