Looking for a great resort that is clean, friendly staff and good food?? Check the Presidente out. I did write along letter and it got wiped out :-( But hopefully this will go thru, We are once again going back next feb 2013 for 14 nights along with about 25 of our friends, Everyone there had a great time, The newer ones that came along could not beleive there eyes and also were amazed by the cleanning and the wonder workers....while you are there also get a massage the women are great, so if you are looking for a safe clean and friendly place to go this is it by Far... you can also walk across the raod and go a mile each way at least and it is safe,, even the beach... Do not worrie about cartels here this is a very nice place to go.. you will not reget it.

My husband and I enjoyed the resort. It was quiet(perhaps because it was only at 30 % capacity) The service was great. We really enjoyed Carlos 's friendliness and attentive service. The entire resort was immaculate. The food was simple yet prepared well. The soups were delicious and the fresh fruit was great.
Very nice place.

Room Tip: We had a beautiful room overlooking the ocean. It was very quiet.

Here's what could have made it better. Access to water and pop before 7 a.m. that is cold. Cooler water was warm and vending machines were for staff only. I was told I couldn't wear a spandex tank top over my suit in the pool, however, many local guests were wearing cotton shorts, t-shirts and button down shirts and were not asked to remove them. Children under drinking age should not be allowed in the pool bar area. This was a problem as there wasn't room for the adults. Also there didn't seem to be pool rules like no running, no jumping, no splashing in the pool. Again, if the children were restricted from the adult areas it wouldn't have been an issue.

The staff was very pleasant and we received excellent service other than the above mentioned.

I'm pretty sure I'll be back.

This is my 8th year traveling to Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo area. This is my 2nd time staying at the Presidente. First the good, Carlos, Victor, Humberto, and almost all of the waitstaff go out of teir way to accomidate you in anyway. The rooms were updated since our last stay, and the pool was always very clean and relaxing. The beaches are always the best and the Presidente is smack dab in the middle. Shopping, eating, and finding places to enjoy a beverage is right across the street which is very convienent. Now the bad, as I have read from other posts, we were dissapointed with the food, theme nights and specialty restaurants. The food just seemed very boring, without much flavor, and especailly dissapointing that hardly any of the specialty restaurants were even open at all. We always looked forward to Saturday night's Mexican Fiesta night out the the cobblestone court. Normally there was plenty of food and vendors to purchase a lot items to bring back home. Unfortunately this year there was a scarcity of food and selling vendors. They did not have a party on the beach either this year. Unfortunatly for the hotels in this area, occupancy levels during the week ran about 25%, which could reflect the lack of food choices for this hotel. The only time they ran more food and drink choices, were on the weekends, when local Mexicans came to this resort for a long weekend. We might go back, but, for what you spend, you might be better off staying at a nice, smaller hotels in Zihuantanejo, and do everything a la carte for better and more pleasing results.

Room Tip: South side pool rooms is the best location.

The hotel is a little dated and in the middle of being remodeled therefore if your not a member (meaning you haven't bought into their timeshare deal) you will stay in the old side which is more like a 2.5 star hotel. The overall experience was on. There are 5 restaurants at the hotel but their we were there for three nights n there was never more than 2 open for dinner. Also beware of the them tricking you into going to see their 60 minute presentation in exchange for free tours. The presentation guys are relentless and become rude and angry if you dnt want to buy and in the end after 3.5 hours of telling them your joy interested you will still not get your free tour promised by the hotel staff as we did not. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED by this. Of course they found a grey area and we ended up having to pay full price for our tours w the tour agency. Good news is that the snorkeling was AMAZING. Best ever.

Dear guest,

Thank you for taking your time to share your experience on TripAdvisor.
Your feedback is very important for us and your comments help us to improve our service and our standards.

The hotel was partially remodeled 2 years ago and we are not making difference if you belong to the Club Presidente or not. The hotel makes the assignation of the rooms in function of the category you booked: Garden view, Pool view, Ocean view and Ocean front.

In reference of your experience with the Club, I had already talked with the Manager of the Club to solve immediately these issues and to avoid this kind of behavior in the future. I am sorry for this situation.

And maybe that is why you made this negative comment of our staff because as you can read it, in most of the TripAdvisor reviews, the quality of the staff and of the service is what our guest enjoys the most!!!

I hope you will give us a new opportunity to welcome you again in our Resort and thank you again for your comments.

Best regards,

SMC

Excellent hotel in Ixtapa with great service and excellent food. We went back to InterContinental Presidente because of one guy by the name of Carlos. Not only he is an amazing beach waiter but he will take care of you whatever your needs are including helping with your reservations for diner outside the hotel.

This was our 5th trip to this hotel and each time we have chosen the Presidente because of Carlos. All my family (7) have appreciated his hospitality and we will go back to meet him again. Next time you are in Ixtapa, ask for Carlos and you will have the trip of your life with great customer support & service. This guy should be a Manager in charge of all Customer service for this hotel.

Room Tip: Front beach view room 3244, 3250, 3344, 3350, huge balcony and lovely room on the beach.

We've been all around Mexico at 4 and 4 1/2 stars, and this resort is wonderful.
Food is good (although without full occupancy not all restaurants open).
Like all buffets they can get repetitive. Although we like salads, fresh fish, and Mexican food.
We don't go to Mexico to eat pizza and burgers. (that's a hint to the complainers).
You can eat at the a la cartes every night if you want to and they are very good. The steak is awesome, I had it several nights!

Most comfortable bed we've had in Mexico.
Rooms updated and lovely.
Didn't upgrade to ocean front, didn' t need to. Our room faced the Emporio next door and we had a balcony big enough for a party! Huge, and quiet and we could see the ocean from there.

Staff...as everyone says, simply amazing. It feels like a family. Some of them have worked there 35, 25 years. If you want something...ask. They will get it for you.

Many chairs and palapas. Never have to do the 5 a.m. towel game. Wonderful!
Nice restaurants across the road...
Amazing beach, long walks.
Great weather as always.

Please take the time to go to the new museum in Xihucan, best thing we did there.

Overall, will go back.
This is a nice resort.
