Unfortunately we've only spent a weekend in this hotel, but it was great. We had a really nice and big room with a balcony and ocean view. There was even an ironing board and an iron.
The food was good and plenty. The waitresses were always very friendly.
There are plenty of sunbeds on the beach and there are two pools: One for relaxing and one more "active" one. The best thing was the swim-up pool bar.
On Saturday evening there was a Mexican night with lots of Mexican food and shows.
The only thing we were disappointed about was that at midnight the bar closed...

We have stayed at this hotel for several years now and we will keep on returning. All of the staff are wonderful. It is so easy to enjoy yourself without ever leaving the property. If you are traveling with a large group of friends this is the way to go. Jorge, the head concierge bends over backwards to help. Abel, the head waiter is awesome and attentive. Carlos is the best drink server on the beach. Get to know these wonderful people and you will have a great experience. Beth McGregor

We really had a wonderful time. Everything we needed was provided. If they did not have what we wanted at the buffet or on the menu, they made it up especially for us. Pool, ocean, room, etc. all excellent! We will come back.

We have been visiting here for over 10 years. The staff is wonderful and like family. They remember us every time we return. The wonderful weather brings us back each year. The nearby shopping, golf and the ease to get around makes it fun for everyone. The beaches are clean and great for walking. The waves are a little much but adventurous.

We had a wonderful experience during our 5 day stay at this resort. All we had to do was wake up and enjoy the day. In particular, we would like to focus on reviewing their planned entertainment. Kudos to the entertainment staff which had a variety of activities set for the day and they made every event fun and enjoyable and are very professional. We would start our morning with a wonderful planned activity and then enjoy the rest of the day laying under a palapa in the beautiful beach and sipping delicious drinks at the pool bar. Planned activities included a a beautiful guided morning bicycle tour to Playa Linda to fun pool activities with the the super funny "Chiquis", Zumba at the beach with Ivan and the excellent FREE tennis lessons with a Enrique ( a very good tennis instructor). Truly , truly enjoyed it. We would like to make recommendations on two items. The tennis court and the bicycle helmets. It would be nice to have some type of helmet cap underneath the helmet for sanitary purposes. Wearing a smelly and wet helmet was not to enticing . Also, it would be great if the courts could be lighted so guests can also play at night and not under the heavy sun. Overall, this resort scores with us from good to excellent in the other areas which include food, service, and facilities. LOVED IT and WILL COME BACK WITH THE FAMILY !!!!

We stayed at the Inter-Continental Presidente Ixtapa during the first of March for two weeks. We formed a group of thirteen traveling companions.
Ixtapa was sort of the last frontier for us as we all are well traveled in the south. This was one of the few places we had not visited. The draw to the area was the weather, it did not let us down sunny and hot for fourteen days, unlike our ventures to the Caribbean where it was much cooler and rainy every year we went.
The flight down was done with an upgrade in the seat and luggage weight which paid off, our stuff was under weight but the Sun Wing agent was very rude I felt insulted by very poor customer relations with no manners. It was a long flight for us with a stop in Kelowna after we left Vancouver; always upgrade the leg space when you can.
We arrived at the hotel and to our amazement they did not have any record of our pool view room reservation and were not willing to negotiate in any way shape or form, our copies of the Sunwing invoice stated we had a “deluxe package” and said nothing about the upgrade. So we had to get the Sell off Vacations invoice off the fridge at home scanned and e-mailed the next day to get our proper room, one night at the back of the hotel and thank god it was the only one it was noisy and smelly. The point here being take every invoice you receive for your holiday you may use them.
Our timing was right on the down side of the busy season, with the first few days being crowded then we had the run of the resort, a good time to travel to Ixtapa end of February first weeks of March.
The food as is always a huge issue for all, it met all our expectations and exceeded in freshness and quality, with true Spanish flare however as we travel in an extended time frame the menu tends to repeat from week to the next, and this is where the beloved Ala Carte came into play, we did the French and Italian which were in fact the same place with a different menu. The food at the À la carte was awesome the service bar none, some stated that the portions were too small, but with a full course meal a little of everything is quite a bit. The menus had good variety in all we visited those 5 times. We asked for a Spanish coffee one evening and it was fantastic it’s the full ritual.
The Rooms of which we had two were adequate and the beds were the best we ever had, some of the tub faucets we falling apart and the lighting was poor, as the only time spent in the room was after dark. That musty tropical smell popped up here and there but was not persistent. The maids were quite creative with their endless ideas for towel art. Get the pool view room north wing.
The beach was the cleanest beach ever, one morning the entire staff came out and raked and sifted the sand for trash, the sand was hot and there were plenty of palapas, with drinks delivered by Carlos, who was one of the best waiters kept and us topped up all day.
An awesome location right across from the plaza and restaurants, we went out three times, Malache, Armillios and Chili Peppers, all of which provided good meals, places with wood ovens make the best dishes.
We did the trip to Ixtapa Island, good snorkeling nice quiet spot. But just get the bus or cab to Playa Linda, and check out the Crocs.
We went Deep sea fishing , do not get a charter from”Big Ben” on the beach, he lied to us and had the worst boat ever with broken ladders, seats and toilet, VERY UNSAFE!
We also hired a Taxi for a day, and saw the area with a great driver Noel cab 628 best travel tip ever.
The big thing to watch we found as a group was billing, it was always a big hassle at all of the establishments as they always billed us together even after being asked not to, accompanied by over billing, at all the places. Ixtapa was the most times people tried to rip us off anywhere in our 14 trips.
In all the Presidente is aging and in need of major structural repair. The staff is amazing and polite with many years at the resort, the beach and location perfect, the weather unbeatable, would I return to Ixtapa? Yes. Will I be back to this hotel? No. We never go back to the same place.

Room Tip: Pool View or Ocean front.

I spent months researching where to vacation. Finally picked Ixtapa. Spent weeks obsessing about where to stay. Like many of you I read hundreds of reviews. I have traveled quite a bit in the past. My traveling companion has not traveled.

The best part was the weather. It was amazing every day.

The property is located on a great section of the beach.

The place needs work, we did notice that improvements were trying to made daily.

We had a pool view room which I would recommend. With the pool views you can also see the ocean. Our balcony was big enough for two chairs and a table. We used it daily.

The service and food was ok at best. We did tip frequently. Did not notice any better service than those who never tipped. The best meal we had was Wednesday night on the beach. The beef, pork and chicken was grilled and it was good. We met a lot of people who come here yearly and most go off sight to eat every night.

The place is over run with locals on the weekends, which I did read about on here. It was impossible to get a chair by the pool unless you were down there by 6am. All were reserved with towels, kids toys, etc. The disappointing part was that no one was using the reserved chairs.

Get a massage they are $15.00 for an hour. We went two times. Walk about 1/2 mile down the beach to the right of the property. Hut 1 and 21 were both great.

After reading so much about Carlos I did seek him out right away. He is a great guy. Works the right side of the beach.

Beware of beach vendors we did get ripped off on jewelry claiming it was silver. It wasn't but I still love it and will wear it a lot.

Oh almost forgot if you venture off sight look out for the Azul grand people. They usually wear bright blue shirts. These people are ruthless. Avoid them at all cost unless you want to be stranded at their property. Looking for your own cab to get out of there.
