My husband and I just left this beautiful hotel and I am already looking to see when we can go back! The view from our room (all rooms) was ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING! (see pics) The hotel manager for our stay was Juan Carlos. He and his staff far exceeded our expectations in customer service and class. My husband and I were treated like a King and Queen during our stay. The food is very fresh and delicious, the landscaping surrounding the hotel is pristine and the pools and cabanas are top notch! We surfed down the street at La Playa Linda and had it all to ourselves! The waves were so fun and the water was so warm. I couldn't have asked for a better vacation. Stop what you are doing and book your next trip with Azul Ixtapa Grand!

We just returned from Ixtapa after a week's stay at Azul Ixtapa on an RCI exchange. We chose not to select the all-inclusive meals which was a good decision for us. We do not drink alcohol nor do we want to be enticed by all the food in buffets so paying an additional $700 for food for the week for the two of us was excessive. Instead,we took the local bus to the large grocery store, Bodega, a day after arriving and stocked up on all the necessary food items for most of the week. One day we decided to eat lunch at one of the buffets at the resort. For the Mexican themed buffet they were charging 290 pesos! Ay carumba! No way were we going to eat a $55 lunch for two. That seems very excessive and discouraged us from eating at the restaurant resorts thereafter. The town of Ixtapa is a 10 minute local bus ride but the town has become very "sleepy" due to all the resorts which have pulled people away by requiring all-inclusive plans. We did not experience any restaurants in town there which I would recommend. We took the local bus to Zihuantanejo three times in the week. The trip takes approximately 20-25 minutes on the bus. Since this resort is located at the very end of the hotel zone in Ixtapa at Playa Linda there is a good distance from both Zihua and downtown Ixtapa. The last bus leaving Zihua for Playa Linda is at 7pm so staying there for dinner meant a $10 taxi ride back to Azul Ixtapa. Our condo unit was comfortable but the kitchen was not maintained. The kitchen counter had a huge crack running across the top and also on the upper part of the bar. We had to request a cutting board and can opener since there were neither. The cookware was minimal although we seemed to manage during the week. The maid service was outstanding. The gardens are gorgeous and lush. The swiimming pools were immaculate and beautiful. Would I return? I don't think so because we prefer to stay closer to the typical Mexican life which would be nearer to Zihua. If one were to visit Azul Ixtapa with young children and were interested in staying at a beach and pool most of the day, then this is a nice resort. We enjoyed the free dance performances each night in the outdoor theater. This was a highlight for us. All in all, the resort is beautiful, remotely located, clean and comfortable.

We stayed October 2012 (tripadvisor would let me choose that month) and it was so good I swore I would write a review when I got home so I feel guilty it's taken so long for me to do this! We stayed a week and booked with expedia, all the rooms seem to have great views, we were up on a high floor I think because its not the busiest time to visit. The first few days (Monday-Thursday) were so relaxed and the hotel was relatively quiet so not all the restaurants were open but it really didnt matter as the selection and food was great, it also forced us to try all the choices as they would rotate which ones opened each day. Breakfast was also really good, nice coffee and a perfect large deck to look out upon ixtapa island. If you go definitely spend a day up there, it's good value to get the boat and their are loads of choices for eating and snorkeling.
We went with our 4yr old and the highlight of our stay was the pools and kids club. The club was so secure and safe, security guards and all staff were very diligent, the supervisor spoke good English and was always very welcoming for our daughter. They did so many cool activities, I think we were envious of all the stuff the kids were doing!
We did the timeshare presentation and it really did only last an hour, very friendly, they tried pretty hard for us to buy and to be honest we were having such a good time it seemed like a good deal just not the right time for us right now. Wife got the massage and we were never harassed, they were just doing their jobs.
The room was tidy and clean, we got a free roll away for the kid and tv and AC worked well. We were originally in a room with no balcony and were switched as soon as we asked, mostly as the hotel was quiet I'm sure.
Finally, I guess I would say the Azul Grand next door looked stunning inside and out but is adults only so if you have a family and want a great vacation I would go to the Azul and you will love it.

Although we didn't stay at the resort, we were enticed there by offers of deep-sea fishing and snorkeling in exchange for attending a timeshare presentation. We actually had a week's stay at Tesoro. After attending the timeshare presentation we enjoyed our free day at the resort and ultimately purchased 12 more day passes (4 people for 3 days). The pool was so large and the swim-up bar was fun and the activities director really got our teenage daughter and her friend involved. The pool was not crowded and my daughter actually met a few other Americans and Canadians and organized a get-together at Senor Frog's by our resort, Tesoro, for late one night. She loved her experience at Azul and I'm sure it's one of the reasons we'll be go back to Ixtapa. Had we just experienced Tesoro we would have chalked up Ixtapa as a beautiful place to have visited once and sought out other scenic corners of the world. The food was good, the atmosphere was good and the resort itself was beautiful. My only less-than-5-star critique would be the staff but...what ya gonna do? The beach, although not pretty like the strip in front of Tesoro, had much calmer water that we were able to swim in every day. At Tesoro we were really only able to enjoy the ocean 2 out of the 7 days we were there. Well, no, we watched the crashing waves and marveled at God's awesome design many times every day but as far as swimming in the ocean, no. Thanks to Isla Ixtapa, Azul's beach was relatively calm and we enjoyed the boogie board rentals many times. Speaking of Isla Ixtapa, walk down to the ferry and for a few pesos cross over to the island. If you cross over the island it's really easy to rent snorkeling equipment and have a great day. Rent a guide while you're at it and he'll dive down and bring up baby octopuses for you!! I told you we really had a lot of fun at Azul and we didn't even stay there!!! We are definitely going back.

We just returned from a seven night stay with my husband & two boys, ages 6 & 8 from a very nice vacation. They had activities throughout the day for both the kids and adults that kept us busy if we wanted to. Due to the heat and humidity, I usually did the aqua aerobics, occasionally joined by my husband. The kids enjoyed ping pong, air hockey, beach soccer, painting, making cookies, yoga, & tennis to mention a few. One day they went to the local crocodile preserve, where there were crocodiles of all sizes along with Iguanas, fascinating for kids.

There were always plenty of poolside chairs and drink service was excellent at the pool.

As others have mentioned, the families vacationing are mostly Mexican, with a handful of Canadians and Americans. The food at the various restaurants mostly caters to this audience, but there are other options like the snack bar, offering a daily variety of pizzas, salad, burgers, grilled chicken, etc. great for a quick bite while lounging. Additionally, the buffets varied in theme, inluding Italian, Asian, & even Tex-mex, which had a unique, but tasty version of BBQ ribs. The two nicer, sit down restaurants (reserve early in your arrival) offered some nice seafood & steak options and elegant desserts. The wine was actually a bit better quality too, as there were not good options by the pool. One night, we attended a well produced dinner/buffet show with good food and a show highlighting various Latin American countries.

I would highly recommend this hotel for a family wanting to relax in a beautiful setting, practice their Spanish, and eat some authentic Mexican food. Aside from the heat (we're not used to humidity), our stay was one of the best! & we've been to almost every beach are throughout Mexico. One recommendation that I would make to the management is to make the game room area air conditioned to give us a break from the heat.

Room Tip: Choose a higher floor to avoid the noise from pool area. This was not an issue for us, even though w...

We just came back from staying at the Azul Ixtapa. This was our first time in Ixtapa. The resort is very nice, it is great for families with young children. They have a great pool for children (I liked to get under the tree with water coming out of the top, the water felt so good on my back). The resort is very clean and the staff is very friendly. They have great entertainment nightly. The performers were very talented. The only bad memory were the timeshare sales people. They were willing to take all of our money to use as a down-payment. We said no eventually, but it was hard, they always had a better offer. They said that they would sell our WorldMark to use as a down-payment, but they could not guarantee the sale of it, or how much money they would get from it, very bad expererience.

Room Tip: We were there through RCI and were on the eighth floor, better views from upper floors. I was readi...
