The views, the beach, and the willingness of the staff to always be there to help make this a great property. If you don't like the big pool down by the beach, then your specific building also has its own private pool exclusively for the guests in your building. Sunsets were amazing every night. If you don't want to climb the stairs to your room the staff has a prompt transport van service to get you to and from your room, beach, front gate, etc. Or if your location is up high, you can ride the gondola down to the beach and the buffet restaurant. The food wasn't my favorite, but we walked into town just 5 or 6 blocks for lots of restaurant choices and shopping. We also took a bus one night into Zihuatanejo.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room in the Club section. I would pay more to stay in a room in the Sands section wh...

This is not a fancy hotel, but it has a lot of nice spaces for you and your family, we stayed at master aqua suites and our stay was amazing. All the people in this hotel is very friendly, all the swimming pools have water like crystal. It is highly recommended for a very nice holidays in Ixtapa

I've been going to Pacifica for many years, generally in February. I first visited in 1988 as a teenager with my parentsThe units can be hit or miss but for the most part we have solid views from the balcony each year. Love the breakfast buffet and the beach club snacks are fine. We prefer to eat dinner most nights in Zihua. Better people watching and that is the soul and local culture of the region. Zihua is the oldest fishing village in MexicoThe food in Ixtapa is for the blue hairs that never leave the hotel, lol. El Farro in my opinion is awful. My only pet-peeve is the music from the pool club. It stinks, some days the pump awful 70's soft rock and it never ends! When you hear "Year of the Cat" by al Stewert several times, you will see my point. This is a great place for kids. The pool is nice and the section of the beach is usually calm. We will be back next year. I love Zihua and if we didn't bring our son, we may stay there one year.

We were one of the few owners from Loma Del Mar which is now Pacifica Spa. In the 5 years that we were going to Loma Del Mar, we always enjoyed the peace and quiet of the resort, the convenience of the restaurants there and the pools. Pacifica resort timeshares has taken a 5 year lease on the property since Dec. 2013 and so there was some confusion when we arrived for our reservation. The reservation desk didn't have our reservation, so we were given a room without a view at Loma del mar. We changed it the next day without a problem, to one of our choosing. The Loma del Mar apartments were as clean and beautiful as before, but the restaurant is only open for dinner. We had to use Pacifica for breakfast and lunch (its cheaper to buy things in Zihua and use the kitchen). The pool person is the same so it was very clean. The beach facilities at Pacifica are great, if you don't reserve a palapa early, after 11 am unoccupied palapas are fair game, and you can always sit at the beach. We used the Pacifica for internet, the beach, the crocodile feeding time, yoga lessons, water aerobics, and then returned to Loma for peace and quiet and spa services. Pacifica is a time share, not a hotel. They were doing construction all the time, though a the beach it is not really audible. There are lots of family groups, and there are always people to talk to, or not. The service was accommodating, but being Mexico, no one tells you "no" only agrees with you, but if there are no avocados, you aren't getting your order and the waiter won't' tell you. We went to the timeshare sales pitch for the $140.00 off our bill . It was what you expect, just like a breakfast with a used car salesman, but we left exactly after 90 minutes and got our vouchers at the desk. The food at the sales pitch is good though. I'm happy to forego the ocean views and stay at Loma del Mar, but if the resort becomes crowded I'll reconsider. We bought our timeshare specifically because we loved Loma del Mar and its quietude and the sun beds at the pool. If Pacifica is smart, they will market the resort for adults only and leave the kids at Pacifica.

I just returned from a week in Ixtapa and thoroughly enjoyed it. The weather was perfect, the people wonderful! It is primarily a time share property with condo-style rooms. Can't wait to go back again!

Room Tip: This property is primarily time share.

Pacifica Resorts took over Loma del Mar recently on a 5 year contract-called Pacifica Spa and will be kept as a hotel and not part of the timeshares. We were offered a pool day on a Wed. and really enjoyed the grounds & pool. The wait staff was there for you constantly to see if you needed anything- the 1 draw back was the kitchen was very slow even though there were just a few guests. We were asked if we would like to come back on Friday so Kathie could get a complimentary massage ( the special water treatment) and we said yes. We had moved 3 times in 2 weeks and was offered to finish our stay (8days) at Loma del Mar but said we would check in on Monday and out on Thursday. Friday went for the massage- it is a experience had never had before going to all the different pools/stations. A previous complaint was the pools were reserved for guests doing the water massage- the reason is the pools maintain a certain percentage of salt and they have to make the pools invitation only. That Friday we had the pick of 2 different units for our stay. We were offered our choice of a 1st floor or 4th floor unit- we took the 4th floor because of the view just simply beautiful day and at night when the landscape lights come on. The units were stocked with your kitchen items- the bed rooms are different in they had rugs on the floor and drapes-not wooden panels. The previous owner did very little maintenance and Pacifica is in the process of bringing the hotel up to standards. In our Master bedroom the odor from the shower drain was terrible and periods of time sitting on the balcony the odor would pass by. When we were there Pacifica was in the process of getting the wifi hooked up. The advantage of Pacifica taking over is the guest can use all the restaurants at the resorts. Pacifica transportation will pick you up at the road above the parking area for the cars. We really enjoyed our short time there. On Tuesday night Pacifica had their first Grill Night. They set up everything out on the sand by the infinity pool and really decorated the area beautifully. You picked what you wanted to have Grilled- Kathie picked a large lobster. A small salad and desert bar was also set up. The drinks were brought over from the bar by the infinity pool. Being on the 4th floor it was amazing watching everything going on setting up for the Grill Night. Everything had to be taken down that evening and the area restored back to normal.
When we go back to Pacifica in January 2015 we plan on doing the water massage again and would love to have the opportunity to stay there again and see how much the hotel has been improved in a year.

Room Tip: For the view, the 4th floor in any of the buildings. The hotel is built on the side of the hill. If...

This is our 11th year. It just keeps getting better. The units are clean and well maintained. The food is excellent. This year, two new restaurants were added. We can not say enough about the staff. They are friendly, fun and make you feel like they really care about you and want to make your stay wonderful. It is like seeing friends that you have not seen for awhile. We have always felt safe on the resort and in Ixtapa. It is a place to relax and enjoy the fantastic view. I admit there are several steps, after all, it is built on a hill. But, there are several forms of transportation to help you get around. We could trade locations but, why bother when this have everything we want or need for a vacation right here!
