There are several beaches on Isla Ixtapa. We traipsed around to look at all of them and decided to settle in for the day on Varadero Beach as it seemed the most tranquil. We weren't there to snorkel or ride banana boats or jet skis so this beach is the quietest. We selected Restaurant Paraiso Escondido and couldn't have been happier with the choice. Tina, our hostess, took wonderful care of us and brought out fresh red snapper, shrimp and lobster for us to choose what we would like for our meal. We settled on a whole lobster grilled (a la plancha) with garlic and butter. Exquisite! In addition we had lobster tacos and guacamole along with fresh red salsa and pico de gallo. Nothing beats dining on wonderfully prepared food while digging your toes in to the sand and hearing gentle waves washing up on the shore.
Getting there: We took a taxi from Playa La Ropa in Zihuatanejo to Playa Linda (120 pesos each way) which is where the pangas (boat taxis) leave from. Fare to the island is 40 pesos round trip per person and takes about 10 minutes each way.
