It sounded better than it was. It was described as a "reef". It was more like a rock break. The snorkelling was ok, nothing note worthy tho. We took the bus there & brought our own lunch from our hotel so the price was right to go there at least. 10 pesos for bus, 20 pesos for water taxi (per person, per way). So for less than $3, it was a change of scenery as a minimum.

If you manage to catch your own fish, you can take it to one of the restaurants and they`ll prepare it for you for a fee.

Very peaceful. Good snorkeling. Almost no waves. Beautiful vistas. Good food. Not as hot as in Ixtapa.

We were told that Las Gatas was the most beautiful beach in the world but I assure you, it is not. It was dirty and smelly, there was only rocks, no sand really.

I come to Mexico for the old world experience. We do not always have to visit the new and fancy. The feel of Las Gatas, the way life in Mexico was before the invasion of the big hotel chains and moderness, Let's hope that Las Gatas will never change.
