It's such an amazing farmhouse in beautiful surroundings. Perfect place for friends to get together and to use as a base to enjoy the area. The owner, Doug was really helpful both before and during our visit. I would recommend a walk to Carsington Water. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Thank you.

The house proved to be a winner for all the twelve members of the family who stayed here. There was so much room that we were never on top of each other - unless we chose to be. The teenage girls could escape to their rooms on the top floor, and the little children enjoyed having lots of space. The top lawn was great for games playing, and the younger children loved exploring the many corners of the garden. All the rooms were very comfortable, and very warm.
The upstairs lounge was a real winner, with room for everyone, as was the dining room.

We rented Emily Barn, next door to Swiers Farm House and was not disappointed!

The location in the village of Carsington was in a great location for both the reservoir and associated activities as well as the local pub (a must have in our books).

There were 5 couples and 3 little ones in our party and the bedrooms were all great sizes (some were huge!) and incredibly homely and comfortable. The house itself was the perfect spec for our needs with the kitchen well equipped and the living areas a good size for our party. An added benefit is that most rooms are accessible from the outside of the property which was a bonus when the babies were sleeping and you needed to get through to an adjoining room.

Thankfully the cottage has wifi as there is no mobile phone signal so be prepared to download a viber/whatsapp app if you want to contact the outside world. Another point to note that the garden which is lovely and a gorgeous place to sit out and wathc the world go by (as we did when we had a bbq) is not cornered off from teh drive or main road so if you have toddlers or littel ones that have a good sprint on them, then best to make sure you're supervising at all times. Having said that, there is a great little park across the road and next to the pub (convenient!) which our families took advantage of.

OVerall a great weekend in a great cottage. Val was incredibly accommodating and I'll be sure to recommend the cottage to all our friends - we hope to come back again soon!

Every year I book a house with a group of old friends. Our stay here was our 12th year and has to be one of the best. The house is a quirky layout with upstairs living room but has a lovely kitchen downstairs with sofa and tables for socialising. There is also a dining room. All the bedrooms were comfy and there are enough bathrooms to go round. Carsington water offers plenty of activities and is absolutely magical to run round early in the morning to help shake off the night before excesses :). Doug was an excellent host, Friendly and laid back. Doing just enough to keep you informed and make you feel welcome without imposing. I highly recommend.

As our family are scattered from one end of the country to the other we decided to have a get together somewhere in the middle to celebrate both my husbands and my 70th birthday. We had no previous experience of looking for this type of accommodation and didn't know where to begin but we were blessed to have found Swiers Farmhouse - it was the perfect place. We were a large group of 16 covering 4 generations and the house delighted everyone of us. It is set in a lovely quiet spot but with so many places to visit close by. I hope we will be fortunate enough to be able to return again someday.
