“Go for the views, nothing else”
Reviewed 5 February 2014

It is a sad looking place which is cluttered with monuments of various religions and ponds. It is not maintained and even has graffiti within the observation tower.

The drive up is quite steep, but the road is paved and broad, except for a small patch. It is isolated, except for the couples who visit the park area.

Rs. 300 for foreign visitors and they charged extra for the vehicle.

“Fairytale Fantasy ?”
Reviewed 29 December 2013

Located just out side the small town of Gampola, Easy to find once you get there. Up a very steep winding road. It seems this site is not well known as there are not that many visitors, maybe it should be kept quiet as I am not sure a surge of tourists could easily be handled.
Its a good idea to check it out on Google before you go for a full explanation as there is no one there to tell you why its there at all.
At over 3500 feet above sea level one thing is for sure the 360 views are breath taking. Yon can see most of the major ranges of hills and mountains in the area on a clear day.
The gardens are well tended and the four different major religions of Sri Lanka are each represented with their own places or worship.
The tower its self is entered from ground level by some stairs inside the building. The inside looks as if its never been quite decided what it should be and looks half finished. Keep going up the steep stairs, finally you come to the first viewing platform to be greeted by a local man with Binoculars , he will happily lend them to you and explain each and every hill and sight you can see. Does not ask for a fee but its welcome if offered. Continue up the rather scary outside staircase to the almost unpassable top stairs where you can really enjoy the view. Great care is needed to negotiate the final few stairs but well worth it.
The "restaurant" is a sad place to say the least, they do not sell water or ice lollies. Not sure they have any thing much at all other than a few obscure soft drinks and Milo.

Do go its worth the trip
