“Relaxing Honeymoon”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2014

My husband and I went for our honeymoon and we had a great time. The service was phenomenal, the food in the restaurants was absolutely delicious, and the beach was just amazing. We stayed on the Heaven side and it was the best choice. Adults only! It wasn't crowded, there was never a wait for dinner, and we could always find prime real estate for lounging by the pool or at the beach! All in all we had a great time and would recommend. We also went on the family side a few times for dinner which was also very nice.

Hard Rock RM actually exceeded our expectation. We have visited this resort when it was Spa Palace. Hard Rock has really done some major renovation. Rooms are very nice & new looking. Great vibe & exceptional service. Club Heaven was fantastic. We will definitely return & can't wait until they open the Los Cabos Hard Rock. Really a good overall value.

Stayed at the HRH Jul 5 - Jul 11 and overall it was great. Check in was easy and the room was ready despite arriving a few hours before official check in time. We received resort credits which can be used for everything from a offsite excursion to a bottle of wine. We only ended up spending about half of the $1500 credits we had. On a side note, there is a 20% service fee for there use, payable upon check out.

We had a mishap in our room shortly after getting settled in, but the front desk was very attentive and had us moved into a new room rather quickly. Overall the rooms are decent. The beds are full size and a little too small for my family. Next time we will get two rooms. The jacuzzi tub was nice, but it was only used once. The tub takes up valuable room space and it would be great if there was an option to not have one and instead have a pullout sofa or daybed. The decor was up to date and clean. We were in Bldg 6 which was a short walk to the lobby, restaurants and pool. Keep in mind this place is pretty big which includes the Adult only side, Heaven. Heaven side is similar to the Hacienda side, but contains more restaurants.

The restaurants were all good and I was happy that the dress code was relaxed and men were allowed to wear nice shorts. Overall the food was great and there can be a wait on the Hacienda side restaurants. Heaven side we just walked up and got seating right away. We were able to eat at Frida (Mexican), Ipanema (Brazilian steakhouse), Zen (Japanese Steakhouse), Cava (tapas), and Ciao (Italian). My favorites were Ciao and Frida.

As far as nightlife goes, there is a great club in the Heaven side. It is pretty huge and different. There is a pool and jacuzzi inside if you desire to swim. There wasn't much of a crowd so the place seemed really large, but I bet it is great during high season or Spring Break. They also have pool tables and a bar on the upper level with plenty of places to sit.

The grounds were kept clean and I was impressed how clean the pools stayed over the course of the day. Drink service at the pool was quick and a bit slower on the beach. There is a lot of ground to cover on the beach and only a handful of servers, but it gave us a chance to move around by going to the pool bar if we wanted a drink faster. Also, there are plenty of iguanas and other small animals throughout the resort. A member of our family saw a monkey like creature late in the evening.

Now the beach area may not be for everyone, but I liked it. It consisted of man-made lagoons where one could kayak or snorkel. You can check out equipment near the beach bar. It was calm, quiet, and there was plenty of sea life. The water is replenished as the waves come crashing into the inlets. You won't be able to bodyboard or surf, as the beach on the other side of the wall is rough and rocky. There are other traditional beaches near the hotel, if you desire one.

I took advantage of the spa and was pleased. I had a deep tissue massage. Arrive early to take advantage of the hydrotherapy services, which include sauna, steam room, cold room, and jacuzzi's. The attendants have a system that allows you to enjoy all of them prior to the massage. The facilities were clean and up to date. Hindsight I wish I would of went there upon arrival, instead of the last day.

There are plenty of activities, just ask. There is a rock wall, obstacle course if you are tired of the beach. We used the gym, which was ok. They do offer yoga, spin, and stretching classes during the week.

For offsite excursions, we traveled to Tulum, Xcaret, and Playa Del Carmen. Tulum was interesting, but small compared to other ruins. It was really hot, but there is access to a nice beach below it. There were also shops before the entrance to buy drinks, snacks, or souvenirs as you leave. Just a quick warning, that you will have to walk about a few hundred meters before you get to the Tulum entrance so bring good shoes. Also, there are no bathrooms or places to buy drinks once inside.

Xcaret was great and it was kind of like an interactive Sea World. There aren't any actual rides, but there are plenty of things to do. We enjoyed the underground lazy river which travels into caverns. The park provides life jackets and will also put your belongings in a secure locked bag that will meet you at the exit. Also, if you won't a more open float, there is an option to do that if the caverns make you uneasy ( it can get pitch dark at some spots). We attended the time share presentation to get free access to the park and to me it was worth it.

Playa del Carmen market was cool and there is also a beach near the market. The market is pretty long and there are plenty of places to shop, eat, etc. Some reviewers claimed being harassed or receiving offers to buy drugs, but I did not see or hear any of that. I felt safe and at no time felt uneasy. The cab ride to the marker from HRH was roughly $35 for nine of us, one way.

We had a wonderful time at the HRH and would recommend it. I hope I covered everything, if not feel free to ask.

This place was amazing. My husband and I stayed on the Heaven side and it truly was. The service and food was amazing. We were pampered and given resort credits, which allowed us to enjoy some luxurious treats, like spa treatments, at an affordable rate. The food was incredible, esp at le petit couchon, & frida. Breakfast and lunch buffets were delicious and bountiful. The staff was amazing as well. Judy (Yiuridia) was our beach waitress for a couple of days and was incredibley friendly and helpful. So was Lewis :) All in all this place is, hands down, the best resort I've ever been to.

I have to say we had high expectations about the Hard Rock Riviera Maya from the very beginning, specially when the price isn't that cheap at all. Well, we had such a great time during our 5 day stay at the hotel, that we are really considering going back next summer. The service is a totally 5 stars, the staff is awesome and because of that it made our staying enjoyable. Our room even though it was on the small size, it was nice. Everything looked clean and up-to-date. An amazing bathroom with a big shower and separate toilet, bathrobes and even fancy toiletries. We had a well stacked mini fridge in our room, filled with sodas, water, juices, beer and even had top shelf liqueur dispenser. The only thing we didn't give it a use was the tub next to the bed - that because we traveled with two small children and so we didn't want them to make the room a mess. The hotel grounds are very well kept. We didn't see any construction/renovation during our stay, just a few here and there maintenance staff doing their job.
I don't understand why some of the negative reviews in regards of the food. There was more than plenty to choose. I truly have no complains about any of the restaurants, they even went beyond and accommodate some of the requests we had. When it came to the pool bar, I will just say that my glass was never empty, servers kept drinks coming - it was so cool not having to chase servers to ask for a drink. The Wifi worked just fine, just by times it slowed down a bit.
We went to two of the night shows they had, which both of my kids loved (one was the breakdance show and the fire-show!). The hotel is family friendly, and even though the kids club was the only disappointment I have (very small and not much really to do, at least my boys were not to interested to go back after they tried it - the one in Hard Rock Cancun was definitely bigger and look also much funner!). What made up for them was the huge pool which part of it had a very shallow part where they spent a lot of time as well as the water slide located at the other side of the pool. The hotel doesn't have a "regular" beach, however, the inlet it has works perfectly for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking or just relaxing while laying in the chairs.
We are looking forward on coming back either to this same one or perhaps try Cancun's and that would be because we are thinking about going to Isla Mujeres.

Room Tip: We stayed at Building 6, not too far from main lobby, restaurants or pool. No complains at all.
