We stayed at this hotel for six nights during our honeymoon. The rooms are not up to standard with other Omni hotels I've been to in the US and Canada. We were told by the front desk staff that all rooms are the same and the price is the same for every room. The rooms are not the same. We spent one night in a room on the second floor, we had two double beds, the safe did not work and the smoke alarm went off a few times during the night.

The second night, we were moved to a first floor room that had a large patio, hot tube, and hammock. Room 105 was much better than our first room on the second floor. However, other than exchanging your beach towels at night, and normal room cleaning, there was never turn down service.

The beach is great with clean sand and warm water. We snorkeled from the beach and saw a good number of fish. Service from the bar, while at the beach, was great.

The food at the hotel is very good and was worth the extra money to us. Waiter service was very good as well, especially for dinner.

This hotel is in a great location for taking day trips around Mexico or out of the Marina. We enjoyed the half day Catamaya catamaran snorkel tour, rio secreto, and taking a taxi to Playa Del Carmen one night and Akumal for a day.

Other things I did not like about the hotel:
-number of kids at the pool
-not enough shade by the pool
-cleanliness of rooms, pool and pool chairs
-no gift shop
-gym cost extra
-it was difficult to schedule excursions as the office was often closed
-staff was not helpful answering questions
-we felt they were not honest with us during checkout but were quick to negotiate a settlement.

We stayed six days at the Omni Puerto Aventuras for our honeymoon. It is right on the beach in the heart of a busy little marina. Many of the activities such as sailing, snorkel tours and sunset cruises leave from this marina. There is a huge dolphin park in the marina, too.
The rooms are large, try to get a first floor room because the jacuzzis are outside and much nicer. The staff are not helpful, they messed up our reservation and we had a double bed the first night of our stay. We were moved the next day. We checked in on Saturday and no manager was around until Monday am. No one at the desk was helpful in terms of telling us about our romance promotion (which ended up being non-existent), or the resort credit we were told we had (by travel agency). We did not clear up the mixup or credit until Monday. As it turned out, we had a $100 credit per day for food and beverages, not including gratuity. Beware though, they do not simply subtract 600 from the bill. Each day they add up the charges and subtract $100 from the food and alcohol (room service, bar and restaurant all included). Very surprising on last day of check out! Definitely explained to us wrong by staff at check in.
Nice pool and swim-up jacuzzi on the beach, beach waiter services. EXPENSIVE FOOD AND ALCOHOL!!!! Beers $5.00 US, shrimp cocktail $22.50 US. The restaurant El Xenote, mayan cuisine, is excellent. Definitely a hidden gem. Ate three meals a day there!

It was our first time in Mexico, Our Daughter and family has done the trip several times and they stay at the Villa Del Mar because they like the Condo's with kids.
But I like it more laid back and wait on me style. The rooms was great, clean and comfortable. The restaurant there was very good. We loved the openest of everything I had never been in a hotel that was open with no air except in your rooms
We Love Puerto Aventuras as a whole, you'r in walking distance to everything, shopping, eating, Our favorite place to eat was "The Pub" breakfast is great there as well as there Pizza's
The Swim with the Dolphins is a fun time for all ages. The marina is unreal the boats that are there are huge and beautiful. They are rentable to take you out fishing for a few hours or all day. They have the Fat Cat, and perasailing and of course they have a divers shop at the the hotel to take you diving. If you go fishing take your fish fillets to one of the resturants on the lagoon and they will cook it for you for a min. charge. Now that is great eating.!!!
When we go back to Mexico we will stay here again. We had a great time. Oh!!! for transportation to and from the airport use Paridise Tours they are resonable and they are in the hotel.
Happy Traveling

I don't even know where to begin with this place...it is totally misrepresented online...this place is a dump! The bedding is from 1980...seriously, sheets feel like sandpaper, and the bedspread is nylon - no tell motel probably has better bedding than this place! Construction noise constantly, dirty pool with vomit floating and accumulating in corners (not even cleaned up for 3 days!), rude, greedy staff, theft by staff, unresponsive management, disgusting, over priced food, beach littered with trash and beer bottles, and diapers, sewage smell all throughout facility. I could go on but I would rather see this place swallowed by the earth! It was horrible...The Omni should have paid me to stay there! The only way this hotel could get better would be to fire all of the unprofessional, rude and greedy staff, have a biohazard team quarantine it for a few decades, and then outfit it for humans with bedding and amenities appropriate to the clientele. I have traveled quite a bit and stayed in several hotel chains in several different areas / cultures...this place has disgusted me more than any other I have ever been to. So very sad! Please don't waste your money by going here. For the same money you could stay at the Ritz, Marriott, Westin, etc...DON'T GO HERE!!! If I can bring myself to look at the photos I'll upload them at a later time for traveler's review. Take heed my friends, go somewhere else!!!

I've stayed all over the world, in luxury and budget hotels, and I've never been treated so rudely or had such a disappointing experience as I had at the Omni. This was supposed to be a luxury treat during a month long trip of roughing it, and it was by far the most stressful, unpleasant experience of the whole trip. The accomodations were uncomfortable -- the "jacuzzi" in our "suite" was not at all functional, and the staff was completely unconcerned and refused to even come look at it. The AC wasn't working, and they wouldn't even refund some of the exorbitant price we were paying to stay there -- which I have to imagine was supposed to include air conditioning. I'd never recommend that anyone stay here.

The Omni is a lovely little hotel on the Riviera Maya. The rooms are modern, pretty, and very clean. The grounds are extremely well-maintained and the pool, beach, and restaurant view are stunning. The beach is very small but because the hotel has only 30 rooms, we never had trouble finding a beach chair and shade. The food at the beach bar and the Xenote restaurant was fresh and delicious -- we highly recommend the ceviche!

The hotel and surrounding marina are very quiet and everything closed at 11pm. Most of the guests do not socialize with each other or mingle at bars and restaurants. While we found this refreshingly relaxing on some nights, on other evenings we were a little bored and ventured into Playa Del Carmen for a more bustling scene ($16 cab ride one way). If you're looking for atmosphere and action, Puerta Aventuras is not the place for you (at least in May). But having the option to get to Playa easily made it work for us.

The staff, while they seemed a little bored, was very accommodating and polite. We did not have a single complaint during our stay. The tour guides in the office of the hotel were all very helpful. They listened to what we were looking for in excursions and helped us book them.

In summary, this beautiful resort is the perfect place for a relaxing getaway.

The hotel's setting speaks for itself - best beach in very clean town. If you're looking for a cultural experience, however, this is not the place to stay. If you're looking for anglo-saxon sterility, welcome home. One caviat - my wife and I went down on short notice, with the hopes of being able to conduct some work with our laptops while there (trust me, i'd love to leave it at home, but that's not possible when you own your own small web design/development business). We were promised a broadband, wifi connection in every room as well as the lobby. No such luck - nothing worked, and the staff was little concerned and had little technical knowledge regarding the issue. So if you go down there on a "working vacation", don't get your hopes up. There is a small internet cafe nearby (cafe cafe, run by a very nice woman from Denmark) and that sufficed, but was somewhat sporadic with it's connectivity.

Regarding the town itself, PA is a gated community. Any vehicle which sets its sight must go through a security gate just off the main highway. It's not a classic "fishing village" or town, such as Tulum or Playa Del Carmen. The town was basically "manufactured" around a marina which has lots of monstrous American fishing boats. It's chock full of wealthy folks, and most have forced the English language on the local population - which certainly takes away from the charm of visiting Mexico. You could just as well be on a beach in San Diego for that matter. If you're an environmentalist, do not visit this town. There is a place called "Dolphin Discovery" in the middle of the marina area where they let 300 pound tourists ride around on the caged mammals for all to cheer. Somewhat disgusting in my mind.

Restaurants were great all around, but very little in terms of local fare - mostly Italian and American cuisine. One we highly recommend is Massimo - great pasta and atmosphere, an owner from Italy who very much cares about his diner's experience.

Nice thing is it's relatively uncrowded, especially when compared to the constantly growing Playa del Carmen to the north. If you want a true Mexico vacation with culture attached, I suggest heading further south to Tulum or Akumal - both of which are also experiencing development booms, but have yet to see the sterilization of the likes of Puerto Aventuras.

As a perfect summary of what Puerto Aventura is all about:

While walking around the marina one evening, my wife and I happened upon one rather large boat with a guy dining inside. We looked down to see this compassionate fella had named his gazillion dollar craft "Poverty Sucks". Enough said.
