Just returned from ASP. The occupancy rate was low on both the Spa and Cove side. They told us that typically May is slow, but picks up in during the summer months.

It was very windy. The ocean was rough and spilling into the lagoons, which stirred up the sand and made the water cloudy. There were actually waves in the lagoon, so they closed them for two days. In all the years we've been vacationing there, we've never seen it so windy and rough.

Even so we had a wonderful, relaxing time, and are thinking about going the same time next year. Service was excellent as usual. Our rooms were pristine, plenty of towels, drinks, etc..

Updates since we were there April of 2009: New lounge cushions on the balconies, new, comfortable furniture in both lobbies, new tile in the North lobby, new bar area in one of the former massage huts, and a few other things I'm sure I've forgotten.

If anyone has any questions...feel free to send me a message.

I went to Spa Palace with my girlfriend for her friend's wedding. They had the wedding on top of the Steak Restaurant in the Cove. It was a great spot for a wedding. Couldn't have been better. The food overall at the Spa and Cove was ok. The Spa and Cove were too big. We liked the location and hotel at Playacar much better. The Palace in Cozumel was real nice; we would have rather stayed at one of these nicer hotels. If you like to walk a lot, then Spa and Cove are for you. Not having a beach in the Riveria Maya is a huge negative. Staff at the Spa was not helpful. We tried to arrange a transfer through the public relations and they were not willing to help us. We ended up using the p.r. at the Palace in Cozumel. If you do en up at the Spa Palace, go to the Playacar and Cozumel Palace hotels, as they are free to enjoy and much nicer. The Palace chain is good because they allow you to visit other Palace hotels for free. I would go back to this area, but would stay at Playacar...

This was our first time at an all-inclusive resort. It's so nice to try whatever restaurant you want and whatever dish you want without worrying about what it costs. The service all over the resort was top notch and everyone was friendly. I think they even appreciated my lame attempts to speak the language. Occupancy was low, so everyone was busy cleaning something or serving the guests. The only negative incident all week was when the Italian restaurant refused to put two tables together for our group of six! It was really strange!

We snorkled in the lagoon and unlike some comments in other reviews, we saw and enjoyed many fish. We also went on the excursion to Chichen Itza. That was nice, but must be one of the hottest places on earth, based on their high humidity. I was soaking my shirt with sweat by just sitting in the shade. Maybe us California folks have a harder time with humidity that other parts of the U.S. The bus stops at a lunch spot that offers shopping and then a limited buffet of Mexican food that was actually pretty good. However they funnel you through the cheesey shopping area first and hope you'll buy something. These tourist goods are only a preview of the ton of stuff you'll encounter at Chichen Itza for a better price.

One other minor complaint: I agree with others that the hallways outside of rooms are noisy, with little insulation. I'm lucky enough to fall back to sleep easily, but people could be more courteous knowing the situation there.

Overall, the food was great and I would go back there in a minute. Was it perfect? No, but with a good attitude and a little patience, it comes very close

Travelled to Aventura Spa Palace a while ago with my husband and it was, by far, one of the nicest places we'd ever been. I'm only posting a review now to try to counter some of the poor reviews. I simply can't understand how anyone could ever give this place a bad review. The service and staff were amazing ... except of course the "time share pushers" ... but hey, that's their persona. Should be no surprise there. If you agree to go to the presentation you should expect this. The food was delicious ... the rooms were clean and very very comfortable. All 'round it was an amazing resort.

After a gruelling 12 hour trip from Manchester (UK) we arrived at the Aventura Spa Palace tired, hot and pretty peeved off, however as soon as we stepped out of the minibus we were greeted with fresh perfumed towels (this was a new and welcomed concept to us!) and a tall cold glass of fresh strawberry sorbet.
We were treated like royalty and were made to feel very special. We were checked in fairly quickly and showed to our rooms ( my husband and i were there with my sister who was getting married ) and oh my what a room !!! Very clean, spacious, an enormous bed, a minibar, a set of drinks optics and the most amazing part - a jacuzzi !! The balcony over looked the sea view (limited - but that didnt really matter to us) and it had a hammock.
As we had arrived there late in the day, we unpacked and settled in and then went to one of the 7 amazing restaurants located throughout the resort. We were SO surprised at the level of service on offer to us. No sooner had we finished our drinks, another set appeared on the table without even asking ! At one point one of the waitresses came over to fix our table that was wobbling slightly and we hadnt even asked her to fix it ! The food was also amazing. After travelling to a number of European destinations we found the service in Mexico out of this world, nothing compares.
There were a number of swimming pools throughout including an indoor one all of different shapes and sizes and always clean. However beware we found that during the weekends fri - sun a large number of rowdy Americans descended onto the resort for a weekend getaway and generally lowered the tone of the resort, also making it hard to get a sunbed by the pool.
The entertainment provided by the staff was also brilliant, not tacky as some previous reviews have stated. It ranged from water aerobics, pool volleyball, water polo and cocktail making to name but a few. Although my husband and i would have preferred to have a beach the lagoon was nice and the snorkeling in the lagoon was fantastic with an abundance of amazing wilflife. Kayaking was also available in the lagoon and we took advantage of this also.
All inclusive meant all inclusive, and included everything. The alcohol was not watered down or cheap local alternatives. The food included octopus, sea-bass, Rib-eye Steak and various other expensive dishes that we would not normally affiliate with an all-inclusive resort.
We went on the complimentary bus to Playa Del Carmen one day and were also allowed to eat and drink at the Playacar Palace ( another palace resort ) and use the facilities. This hotel has an amazing beach which we enjoyed.
I could write about this holiday for days and days but im sure you'd get bored, so to summarize. This was the best holiday my husband and i had ever been on, we were so impressed and amazed by the Mexicans, they were so friendly and had the best sense of humor. Plus they didnt badger us to purchase things like we have found on our previous holidays in Europe. Dont think about booking a Holiday at this resort or Mexico in general just do it as you really wont regret it.

Have been to Mexico about 6 times in last 10 years, a different resort every time. This buy far was the nicest we have ever stayed at. The resort is beautiful and clean. The staff is outstanding, friendly and helpfull. The food is great. It was not overly busy, great service. The spa part is great and the lagoon is really cool. The entertainment staff is exceptional, kept fun activities going on all day. Only thing is no beach, but a short free bus ride to the resort in Playa del Carmen to use the beach and all inclusive there was worth it. Great place. Going back for sure and takeing the kids to the family side, it looked awsome there also. We ate on both sides so we know it's going to be good there also. Loved it.

This is ABSOLUTELY my favourite resort ever. I have been south 9X and this place is the best. Palace resorts has the best staff! Very friendly and helpful. This is the only resort I have ever been to that had unlimited phone calls home to Canada.
The grounds are gorgeous. The food is AMAZING!!! The room service is a nice treat. The rooms are luxurious!!!
We got married at this resort 3 years ago and wanted to go back ever since. We went last week and thought that it was even better. I love this hotel and intend to go back as soon as I can.
The only drawback is that there isn't a beach. But you can snorkel in the lagoon without huge waves or scary sea creatures getting at you.
