We were one of many couples here on honeymoon. What a great choice. Beautiful setting, delicious food (great waiter - Abraham), non-stop top notch entertainment and lots to do nearby. We were slightly concerned before that there would be so many honeymooners that we wouldn't feel special but this was not the case at all. Highly recommended.

This is the first time I have enjoyed my holiday so much I thought I would write a review. We arrived to have the most civilised check in ever as others have said, champers and cold towel. We were speedily guided through paperwork and swiftly taken to our beautiful swim up suite. Worth every penny of the upgrade so you can escape the heat and bustle of the beach to the relative peace and quite of the swim up pool and bar. We had lovely neighbours , everyone said hello and chatted but not so much to be a problem. Food excellent, room service great and every resturant special for one reason or another. The staff make this resort so special as well as the attention to detail all over the resort. I would highly recommend this resort. Puts the ALL into all inclusive. If you find fault with this hotel you are in the wrong country and should maybe holiday on a private island costing thousands more. This is a great priced resort for the special attention and quality you receive from all aspects of this hotel. I will definitely use Karisma hotels again. Exceeded my expectations and beleive me when I say they were high.

Room Tip: E mail the hotel in advance to select swim up room that has plenty of sunshine. Some rooms lose the...

This resort was simply paradise from start to finish .
The minute we stepped off the bus we were gretted to frozen drinks and cooling face clothes. Our room was spacious and cool and the bathroom / wet room were excellent.
The quality of the food and the options were staggering and for the two weeks were were there we never got bored and indeed felt we would have like more time in some of the restaurants to try the delicious food we were unable to. The quality of the food was so impressive and the service was very quick and efficent.
The resort itself was beautiful and very well landscaped which gave you a real feeling of intimacy and secuirty. The communal areas were also very clean.
The staff could not have been more helpful from the concierge to the public area cleaners to the waiters, everyone always welcoming , smiling and committed to your every need. I could not recommend them highly enough.
The pools were varied to cater for all needs and the event staff were engaging without being overbearing.
The whole experience was fantastic and I would recommend this resort for couples.

We stayed here for 2 weeks and from the minute we arrived we were well looked after. We loved our room, it was extremely spacious, clean and had a massive bed big enough for atleast 4 people! There is a fridge in room restocked daily by concierge, housekeeping also did a great job keeping the room clean. The staff across the whole hotel were all extremely friendly and courteous, always would say hello when walking past them. Me and my girlfriend are real foodies so this was really important it lived up to the great reviews, Well it did the food was fantastic! Accrefices was our favourite for breakfast and for lunch it was either the vida grill or the sandwhicherie which served a lovely selection of burgers! Dinner we enjoyed all restaurants except the Japanese restaurant which we did not rate at all. Our favourite for dinner was either the mexican or Italian which was always busy. The whole complex was so well kept and was a good size. The beach was lovely with plenty of beds and beach huts. We also loved sitting around the activity pool, must comment on how brilliant on how much we loved the entertainment staff: Brenda, Hugo & Rodger. They were brilliant and so much fun! We also had a 4 course dinner one evening in the white gazebo with lobster and steak which was exceptional, definitely worth doing! The travel rep Matt for first choice was also very helpfull and was really friendly.

Overall:
It was an incredible holiday and would Reccomend this hotel to any one, also this was our first time in Mexico and was amazed at what it had to offer! The only negative is that this has now set the bar extremely high and not many hotels will compare with this one!

I spent 1 week at this hotel in February this year and what a lovely holiday it was! We have booked with First Choice and the flights were lovely, we booked taxi transfers too. The hotel had a lovely long drive and check in was a breeze with facials towels and champagne given to you.
Our room was really nice, the Jacuzzi bath was made up so we had a quick bath before dinner, fresh fruit and a bottle of champagne in the room on arrival too! My mum and dad's room wasn't as nice so they moved and had a corner room which was really big.
We tried all the restaurants, and enjoyed them all, the Mexican was probably our least favourite. The staff were quite slow at the main bar and whenever we wanted a premium branded drink they kept saying they had ran out! not quite 5* to me!
We booked Coco Bongs through the First Choice rep and it was brilliant! we didn't do the VIP upgrade and not sure if we would of bothered as the seats were quite low where as the area reserved for the first choice guest was at the top with a perfect view! The excursion had a few downfalls, the bars you go to before are awful! drinks are horrible! and in Coco's you have to leave at 1 when the coach departs! We decided to stay and so glad we did because it was open till about 3/4 am!

We booked our restaurants with concierge and the Chinese restaurant was amazing! We had a little room just to ourselves which was closed off to other guest by sliding doors - book that if you can!! The Italian had the best red wine! and Grill had the best margaritas, but not the best breakfast, the best breakfast was the international. During the day you can either go to the bbq which was delicious or the burger bar which done fantastic burgers!! but pizzas were a bit strange they were made on a wrap style bread. The room service was a bit hit and miss, the first time we did it, it was fantastic but the next few times it was a really long wait and the quality wasn't that great.
When we were there they had a wasp infestation but got it cornered off and destroyed!

The hotel doesn't have the best beachfront as if was difficult to walk into the sea but this is because it was hit by a hurricane a few years back , but it makes it great for snorkelling. The hotel do organised trips daily for snorkelling and kayaking which we done and was great fun. You do get typical people reserving sun beds which was a pain but the beach waitress made up for it, going around in the morning with buck fizz! but if you ordered a drink it took a while to get it.
The dress code wasn't strict as the brochures makes out, men can wear smart shorts in the evenings.
Plenty of day beds around the pools so you never struggle to get one, the quite pool has the "Jacuzzi" in the top corner but it was dirty and just pushed water around and the pools were really cold!

The spa guys come around and offer you the deals of the day but they were quite over priced compared to other hotels I have been to.
All in all I wouldn't rush back to this hotel, it was nice but as for value for money I would say it was slightly over priced. There are a lot more hotels available around the same price which would have been better.

After being in Mexico for one week at the Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe, we checked out and arranged transportation to the El Dorado Seaside Suites (10 minute drive South) to pick us up at 2pm since we knew that check-in wasn't normally until around 2pm and didn't want to get there too early.

When we arrived we went in and checked in with their regular check-in staff and we started going through the normal process. He then excused himself for a moment and went into a back room for a few minutes. When he came back out, he informed us that he had some good news for us, that we were going to receive a complimentary room upgrade if we would like. The room we would receive, if we chose it, was bigger and nicer than our assigned Jacuzzi Jr. Suite that we paid for. He then said the one caveat was that it wasn't here at the El Dorado Seaside Suites, it was next door at the Hidden Beach Resort, which is a small, clothing-optional resort. Upon hearing that, we both knew we weren't exactly comfortable staying at a clothing-optional resort (and when we say "clothing-optional", what's really occurring is the only people with any clothes on are the staff and that's it). He told us that the rooms over there (at the Hidden Beach Resort) were bigger and nicer than what we reserved at the El Dorado Seaside Suites (we later found out this was a lie and completely false), and we could still go between resorts to use both facilities as we saw fit. So we told them that we would pass on the upgrade and we would rather just stay in the room we had reserved at the Seaside Suites. We have nothing against nudists, we just don't practice that sort of thing ourselves and would prefer not to vacation at an all-nudist resort as I'm sure you can understand. :)

Like I mentioned, he told us this complimentary upgrade was an option and we didn't have to take it. So we told him no thanks, we're fine staying with our original reservation. He then said ok and went back into the back room. After waiting a few more minutes, he comes back out and says he's sorry but they are full up for tonight and we would have to stay at least one night at the Hidden Beach Resort because they absolutely have no available rooms at the El Dorado Seaside Suites. Because of the inconvenience, he said they would give us a $200 credit to be used at the hotel for whatever we wished (dinner upgrade, spa services, gift shop purchases, etc.). We were not happy about this, but it sounded as though we had no other options so we
didn't see any point in putting up a big fight about it. Let's face it, we're on our honeymoon and if he's telling me they really have no rooms, what will arguing with them get me other than to ruin my day that much more. So we said ok, we'll stay there one night and then we'd like to move into our reserved room at the El Dorado Seaside Suites and they said this would be no problem.

The manager then brought us over to the Hidden Beach Resort and showed us to our room and a few minutes later one of their bellhops delivered our luggage. The room was nice and all and was appointed about equally to the rooms at the El Dorado Seaside Suites. Although after checking into our room at the El Dorado Seaside Suites the following day, we found out that
the El Dorado rooms are noticeably bigger, almost twice as large because they are 2 room suites and the rooms at the Hidden Beach Resort have only 1 room.

While we tried to make light of the situation, in truth we were very uncomfortable. We had no interest in being at a clothing-optional resort and yet we felt as though we had no other choice. Since we knew we would be leaving to go to another room at the El Dorado as soon as possible, we also didn't want to unpack at all. We walked over to the the El Dorado and promptly realized that we didn't have a clue where we were or where to go as no one had given us a map or shown us around at all. We walked around for a short while, feeling a bit lost even though we did get a map, and finally headed back to our room and ended up just ordering room service and staying in our room for the rest of the day. To say we felt uncomfortable with our room would be an understatement. But the whole situation kind of ruined the first day and a half we were there and it didn't really feel like we were "there" at the resort until later into the second day because we weren't able to finally unpack until after 3pm on the 2nd day.

We were hoping that they would set everything up for us given the inconvenience and we stopped by the front desk in the morning to tell them that we were all set to switch rooms and had our bags ready to go and standing next to the door of our old room and they simply told us to stop back after 3pm to "check in" to our new room. Ok. So after spending a nice day on the beach, that's what we did. We stopped back after 3pm and said we would like to get into our new room now. They gave us a new set of key cards, we handed them our old set, and then grabbed a bellhop who wanted to take us to our old room, pickup our bags and then take us to our new room. We became a bit annoyed at this as it started going (why did we have to do this? why wouldn't they just take care of it for us?) and simply went back to ask them to tell us what room we were in (they neglected to actually tell us which room they gave us keys for, though the bellhop knew). We went to the room and after a while they finally brought our luggage there though it would have been nice if they could have handled this all for us during the day. So we had been there for over a day and were finally able to unpack and settle in to our obviously much larger suite.

They told us that as compensation they would give us $200 credit and it would simply be applied at check-out. So during our stay we took advantage of a nice couples massage at their spa. Upon check-out however, there was absolutely ZERO indication of such credit that both the regular check-in person AND the manager said we would be getting. So upon final check-out we had to tell the entire story over again to the person checking us out and they then had to call someone (I believe they were calling the manager at home) to verify and after taking several minutes to do all of this, we finally had the credit added to our account.

All in all, it was an extremely disappointing experience at the El Dorado Seaside Suites. We had heard so many good things about it and the hotel chain and then were extremely displeased with how we were treated, lied to, and felt as though we had no other options at the time. The $200 credit was nice, but the whole thing really ruined a good day and a half for us and made the entire time there seem much shorter than it was. We had just come from a fantastic experience all around at the Barcelo Maya Palace and so just an hour into our stay at the El Dorado we would have given much to have gone back to the Barcelo to finish out our stay in Mexico.

With regards to the rest of our stay, the food at the restaurants was very good, the beach was average (with about half of it unusable to swim from), the main pool was tiny and looked very dated, and the spa was brand new and very nice. But everything was colored by our bad experience. It's just not the right way to handle things and it left an extremely bad taste in our mouths about the El Dorado Seaside Suites as well as all of the Karisma properties. It would take a lot for us to even consider booking at any of their resorts in the future, especially considering what we know we can expect at their competition nearby.

My two friends and I just got back from five days at the El Dorado Seaside Suites. During our stay, we were treated especially well by all staff on the property. Everyone goes out of their way to make you feel special. The food is high quality, the rooms are plush, and the scenery is fantastic. If you are looking for a serene, but fun vacation experience, this place is for you. It has a very romantic setting. Most guests seemed to be on a honeymoon or anniversary trip, but anyone will enjoy it. Pros: swim up suite, variety of restaurants, beach massage, excellent service, great room with jacuzzi bath, unlimited drinks (including beer & liquor), spa, landscaping (plush with cocunut palm trees & natural wildlife). Cons (all minor): shower was difficult to get to a steady temperature, the beer could have been colder, the beach is rather small (but it's very picturesque). Overall, I would definitely return to El Dorado Seaside!

Room Tip: We were in buliding 37, which was farther away from the bar and beach, which tend to be a bit noisy...
