Excellent service in every restaurant - no reservations, no lineups. Staff is outstanding; reply to every request is:"its' a pleasure". Rooms and grounds are kept spotless. You just "relax completely". Restaurants are a bit too cool, there should only be a 5 to 10 degree (F) difference between inside and outside.

Room Tip: Shut off the air conditioning, pick a room in an upper floor with ocean view - let the ocean breezes...

To start with, any poor reviews of this hotel just make me angry! You have to be VERY hard to please to not absolutely love this hotel! This was our first visit to Mexico and we have completely spoiled ourselves, I'm currently looking at other places to stay that would live up to our experience at El Dorado Seaside Suites and its made me extremely picky!!

The hotel is just so romantic, if you're looking for grand and flashy then this is not the place for you. The resort itself is large but has the feeling of smaller more friendly resort and concentrates on the small touches that make all the difference rather than being flash. For example, the men on the beach that rake the sand, remove any weed and clear the sand of rocks on a daily basis makes the smaller beach so much more beautiful than the larger but slightly shabby looking palladium next door.

The food was sensational, if you've ever done all inclusive before then this will ruin any buffet AI you ever visit again. Lots of choice in all the of restaurants, we didn't eat the same thing twice for two whole weeks! Although i would eat every meal again in a heartbeat! We didn't have a favourite restaurant as our favourite meals were from a variety!

Cleanliness of the resort is incredible, this is strange but the toilets all smelt amazing! Like the smell you get in spa, with clean towels in baskets waiting for you.

It's been a month since our visit and I am still swooning about what a perfect holiday this was for us, I could go on for days but everything was just perfect! I'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone that asked and am extremely jealous of anyone booked to go, ignore the bad reviews and comments, there might be niggles here and there but you'll be so blown away you won't even notice that the barman has given you a strawberry margarita instead of a raspberry one...sigh, tough life!!

Room Tip: We didn't bother with a room upgrade, the junior suites are the same standard as the swim ups an...

This resort is a haven to retreat and relax in. The service and food is in general excellent (with a few minor occasional exceptions) and the staff work hard to please.
With the exception of the Italian restaurant we had no trouble in dining at our preferred time, the table management at the Italian left a lot to be desired. On the whole guests conformed to the dress code but this was not enforced which was a shame and disappointing when you have gone to the effort yourself. Our favorite is Vida for both menu and service.
We found the resort busier than on our last visit and the beach sunbeds did tend to get reserved before dawn.
Would visit El Dorado again but maybe not this one.

We have stayed at the ED Moroma before so wanted a compromise between there (too few restaurants but staff are superb) and the ED Royale that just seems too big for us. Have seen mixed reviews of EDSS so knew there would be good and maybe not so good.
1st of all - would we stay there again - definitely - but with a realistic expectation.

Hotel in general: not too large and well established grounds. We were told it was Karisma's 1st in the RM and the well established palm trees seem to support this. If there in the heat of summer I expect they are very welcome when walking around. We also liked their use of new coconuts as decorations while they sprouted. "Green" but attractive. We were fine with the reception/bell boys but it was not busy when we arrived or left and service was prompt an friendly.

Room: as members of the Exotic Travellers Club we had free upgrade to a Swim-Up suite in the Premium Suites. Reading other reviews I would agree about the noise - you could hear toilets etc. The pool area was nice (we mainly went to the beach) and yes people did drink and it is quite an enclosed area - but it is a vacation so just lie back and don't stress the little stuff. Better yet go over and have a few shots and life seems better anyway. The bar calmed down in early evening anyway & we never had a problem that we could not laugh at after a couple of tequilas.

Food: we were only there for 5 days. Italian was good. Mexican was bland as has been said (and we are in the US not UK). We did ask them for salsa and they did not have anything - but add their hot sauce to it and you can "make your own heat". Sandwicherie was awfull with so much grease it was not funny (DO NOT try the fried beef burrito under any circumstances). The lunch BBQ was fine but I was surprised how little fish they have. Apart from Hot Dogs & Burgers ther main meat was chicken - and the BBQ is on the beach looking at the sea!! Message to management - Fresh Fish is what you should serve because we can get beef/chicken in the middle of the US or Europe. I also question if Mahi-Mahi is a local fish but maybe I am wrong. You also should serve more fresh fruit and salads. There was a tiny salad area with "tweezers" to get the few items available. ED Maroma usually served freshly grilled fish on the beach at lunch with salads and fresh salsa and everyone loved it. Also we come for different foods so stop the emphasis on burgers and hot dogs each day because there are no kids there. If the company is concerned with boosting the local economy and environment it should buy local and most people will prefer fresh light lunches anyway.

Drinks: were fine with us as we are not "name snobs" and drank Mexican beers and taquilla anyway - especially after having a few :)

Staff: this is the hard one. If we had never been to Mexico before I would have said they were the best I had ever experienced. The locals are one reason we come back to Mexico more often than go to the Carribbean Islands as often as before or stay in the US. There were several excellent examples of this attitude here too. However, someone there made a comment to us that generally the staff seemed more "stiff" and "forced" than at other resorts they had stayed at. I can see why they say that as I had that sense at times. The atmosphere was not so natural so maybe there is something going on at the resort - or the staff are not as good actors as at other resorts. We did talk to a couple of staff and were told they work 6 days a week and only get 7 days paid time off a year. I did not dare ask what they were paid by the hour. Working with all these "fat" foreigners who spent maybe 14 days there having a good time being waited on hand and foot may get to them - I know it would to me. I have seen some reviewers commenting that they did not like the way American's tipped the staff and this could ruin the staff's natural hospitality. I do not tip each meal etc but I do give tips at the ned to those staff that have stood out most to me (do not forget your maids since they deal with your mess every day & everyone says how the rooms are usually very clean).

Night life: Very poor. The entertainment was cheap. The main bar was a zoo and there were never enough staff working there. We did not see a set-up for some dancing after the "official entertainment" ended so it just seemed to revert to a drinking zone until closing. However we made friends with some couples, went out to dinner, had many drinks at the smaller bars and then went back to the room for the next day on the beach so not a huge loss to us.

Beach: nothing to add to all the other comments. Almost non-existent and what there is is a war-zone between the chairs/lunch area and bar/water sports so we stayed at the quiet north end where there was no beach. If you want the beach then this is not a resort for you.

Therefore we will be returning knowing the good & bad. I may think hard about the timing of our stay however to get the right balance of things to do v the crowds.

This is our sixth trip to an El Dorado resort. Our first to the seasides.
It has pros and cons like every resort but overall our stay was lovely.
Pros: food was fantastic, our room in the premium section was beautiful with a great view of the ocean, The beach & the water is the most stunning Ive seen along that coast in Mexico.
I think we went during a week that wasn't as busy so everything was available all the time, we never had to wait. I got the same amazing beach bed every day in an optimal location with beanbag chairs and a great view.
There was lots to do. tennis courts, kayaks available when you want them, A lovely long stretch of beach to walk along.
A lot of the staff were really fantastic.
If you get a hot stone massage make sure to ask for Leidy it was the best massage I've ever had.

Cons: I knew this but it's the farthest of the resorts from the airport, so unless you're going to do activities in that area it's not necessarily worth the extra drive.
It's not as modernized or up to date as the other El Dorado resorts.
We got a really good deal so I feel it was definitely worth the money, but having been to the El dorado Maroma and having paid a lot more(which was totally worth it) I wouldn't have paid that much for this resort.

Beautiful resort bad service. Don't even bother getting the premium package because there is nothing extra you'll get, not even premium alcohol. All they have is cheep alcohol and they ask you to pay extra money for half decent drinks. Food was average. We got security coming to the pool saying that we were loud at 5 pm!!!! There were only 6 people at the pool bar, even the bartender laughed at the security when they complained about the noise at five pm. It is supposed to be and adult only resort not a senior only resort. Never going back again.

At the El Dorado Seaside Suites has a full selection of Local, international and premium alcohols and beers in all bars throughout the hotel.

It is very disheartening that you left the hotel with such perceptions and feel that you would not return, we hope that you do change your mind , allowing us to provide you with a experience that goes above and beyond all expectations

Second visit to this hotel stayed 09/11/2013 to 30/11/2013.
Just returned from a three week stay nice to see all our friends again staff and return guests.
The new block was all up and running this year and a new restaurant. There is a new lobby under construction which is due to be finished next year. I believe there will be three restaurants in the new lobby area.
We cannot wait to see this work all finished as we have booked for 3 weeks in 2014.
The staff make this hotel very special they can’t do enough for you which makes your holiday carefree.
Once again the Italian, Asian and Vida restaurants were excellent. We were disappointed with the Mexican last year, so we tried the it again this year ( only once )we were again disappointed, bland and greasy food, very disappointing.
We also tried the new restaurant the Pub Gourmet, a great setting, really nice, but the food was not for us but, the menu was far to confused. Although we spoke to many guest who really liked it!
The beach was far busier than previous year due to the extra rooms, we hope they put some extra beds on the additional beach at the far end that is still subject to some sort of civil dispute.
They do need to make some better provision for bars when it rains, ideally an indoor, air conditioned bar, maybe with piano, or something. Also, the entertainment was somewhat confusing due to the opening of a theatre located away from the main outdoor bar.
Overall, we had a brilliant time, the staff make this hotel, and they are superb.
