“Awsome romantic holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2009

I have just returned from Mexico staying at the Eldorado seaside suites. What an awsome resort. Its our second visit and friennds said before we went 'It wont be the same second time around'. Well they were wrong. The resort is outsanding, romantic, food out of this world and the staff the best I have ever come across. The service you recieve is 5 star. Try it, you will love it.

We finally found out we could go as the ban from swine flu was lifted a few days before our wedding we still could have changed our hotel but thank god we didn't! It is the most amazing place i have ever been and probably will ever go to! We went for our honeymoon and had a jacuzzi swim up suite where you could step out onto your balcony into the pool and swim to the bar for a cocktail or two! The four poster bed was huge bigger than king size and the jacuzzi was also huge. The beach isn't the best for swimming but the snorkelling is amazing go on the snorkelling tour with Reuben i saw a baracuda! The beach beds are the best thing ever so comfy, they make it so romantic and unique plus as it was quiet due to swine flu we could just wander down and get a bed whatever time of day. The pools are also lovely and the hotel has good activities that don't disrupt your peace if you don't want to take part. The all inclusive is well worth the money the food is gourmet with a good range of restuarants our favourites were mia casa (Italian) and Klay Talay (Asian). Breakfast and lunch are also amazing had 3-4 courses for practically every meal! The alcohol is all branded and the drinks are constantly refilled and champagne is also included.
The staff are also fantastic, they work so hard and really want to help you have the best time, the level of service is the best I have ever seen and they really appreciate and work for their tips and don't take them for granted.
The hotel was only 30% full but started to get busier by the time we went home and the level of service was still fantastic with more guests. They also pride themselves on the fact that they have managed to get through the swine flu crisis without closing or laying off staff unlike other hotels in the area.
We also had the complimentary honeymoon package which was a bottle of champagne in our room and a candlelit dinner on the beach which was great.
Would definetly recommend it to anyone particulaly for a honeymoon as it is very romantic and adults only. Plus the age of the guests was varied which meant we met some fantastic people out there to while away the hours at the swing bar!
Overall amazing holiday no complaints at all!

Just returned this morning from the most wonderful holiday. Thought that nothing would ever top last year (Paradisus Rio de Oro, Cuba) but this hotel exceeded all expectations.
We were one of the first flights allowed back to Mexico after the flu outbreak and we were treated like royalty. The Junior jaccuzzi suite room (2102) was enormous. It was absolutely spotless. The bed must have been 7ft wide and had a deep comfortable mattress. There was a double jaccuzzi in the room as well as a walk in wetroom/shower.
There was a sitting area with sofa and table, and a flat screan tv.
The resturaunts were all gourmet dining with lovely food. The bars were all great - loved the swings and cabanas overlooking the ocean.
Raul made a mean mojito! If we didn't want to eat a 3 course dinner, there was 24hour room service which was very prompt and tasty.
When we were there the hotel was only 25% full. Thousands of hotel staff in Mexico have lost their jobs due to the swine flu - Go there - its fantastic!

Fantastic rooms, grounds and facilities. The only complaint I have is that they relax a bit on the dress code for dinner. They were too strict, and after a quick complaint to the hotel "captain", we were seated anyway. Vacation is about relaxing, not being fancy every night. Other than that, would highly recommend, wonderful place!!

We just recently returned from El Dorados Seaside Suites where we celebrated our 10th anniversary! It was truly wonderful. The resort is about an hour south of Cancun. My husband had never been out of the country before so it was pretty exciting for him. We left from Columbia Missouri, change planes in Memphis and then straight to Cancun! The plane ride was fine, one note though....no liquids or gels on board (hubby had his toothpaste and gel deordorant in his carry on - he had to get rid of it) When we got to Cancun we had been forwarned not to get side tracked to people acting like they were seeing about your transportation- they are inside the airport and they want to sign you up to hear about different offers on resorts....just keep going til you get outside the airport and that's where the hotel provided transportation is. Pleasant ride to the hotel (we had arranged a straight through drive- no stops at other resorts on the way down to El Dorado) Once at the resort we were greeted with cool towels and sign in was very easy. They transported us to our room via golf cart (nice touch) Once inside the room we were very pleased- nice size room (swim up jacuzzi) you can look at my pictures to get an idea of the furnishings. The showers are huge walk in type showers, room enough for six!! Jacuzzi worked great, shower, water pressure, bed, were all very fine. The frig has sodas and water but they don't really keep it very cold. Ice is not something that seemed readily available. Didn't bother us though. We used room service a couple of times and the soda had ice in it when it arrived. Hotel capacity was at a low when we went (May 19th thru 24th) but that's because of the flu scare. There was no evidence that there was any of that happening in the Riveria Maya area and we did not even think about it while we were there. Even though capacity was low we had a GREAT time...we went to be by ourselves and enjoy each other's company and to rest and we accomplished both objectives!! The staff are very nice, very professional and friendly. Other posts mentioned that they do like when you do try to speak a little Spanish and they will help you out if you want to learn what certain things are called or how to say something is Spanish. I poured over every review I could find about El Dorado before I went and I found them so very helpful, so I will try to return the favor to those who haven't been there and want to know what it's like. There may be some people who could find negative aspects, but for whatever it's worth my husband nor myself could find anything that would have been a negative for us. We loved the resort, and will definately go back someday. The have several gourmet restaurants, I was wondering if I would like that food. We loved all of it!!! Yes, it's true the portions are small, but as I had read on the tripadvisor before I went just order two or three things- so we did!!! They didn't care what you ordered or how many entrees....but it is true - if you are the type of person who likes the all you can eat buffets and likes to make 3 trips through, these restaurants may not be for you. It was gourment food but it wasn't so "out there" that you didn't know what you eating or that it tasted weird or funky. It was just really really good!!! If you don't fill up, you can always order room service (they do have cheeseburgers, and chicken sandwhiches...stuff like that) not a whole lot on the room service menu but enough to see you through) some good desserts too! Our anniversary dinner was on the beach and that meal was fantastic. Only small down side is that they have a canvas type thing set up around the table to block some of the wind I guess so you can't really see the ocean (it's dark out there anyways!!). But you can smell it and hear it and it was very romantic. We watced the fireshow one evening (performers dancing with fire) which I thought was EXCELLENT- We only left the resort one day for an all day excursion to Xel-ha and Tulum. Great TRIP!! The beach and ocean swim after touring Tulum was AWESOME! beautiful turquoise water and white sand beach. then off to Xel-ha - we only had the afternoon there and we didn't get to snorkel too much cuz we did the dolphin swim!! We did the hour long swim with the "foot push" which was way kewl!!! It was expensive but we thought it was worth it, cuz we probably won't do it again. What really made it worth it to us was that we bought the CD and the video. It was about 100 bucks combined but we wanted to show our kids and stuff. They took alot of pics which turned out really good and I have had a good time showing everyone our pics and video of the event. Xel-ha is beautiful and they have all-inclusive restaurants there....you just go in and eat!! Good food and lots of it. (they have several different kinds of restaurants there) They provide your snorkel and mask so no need to haul your own around. We bought the tour for both these places as a "package" after we got down to El Dorado. There are folks at the hotel who can help you sent these things up. I am not sure if it would have been cheaper to book the excursions before hand (on the internet) or just wait til you get there. We did not risk running the chance that things would be booked up because travel was so slow at this particular time. Now back to the resort..... they had a lovely outdoor garden cafe set up and we ate their for lunch (the sandwhichry was closed and being remodeled I believe) but any how it was good food and right next to the ocean. One afternoon my hubby and I cruised by this little open air hut and there was a local couple who had ceramics there of different things and you could paint them (for a price) and they would glaze and fire them over night and you pick them up the next day. We enjoyed doing that and they turned out really kewl. My husband did a set of dolphins and I did a ceramic picture frame with a parrot, the sea, fishes and a number of other things on it. It was very relaxing at this resort, we lounged in the mornings on our little patio, reading our books and drinking coffee and then taking a dip in the swim up room right outside our door. The pool actually is more like a "river pool" that flows in front of all the rooms and then down into a bigger pool where the swim bar is, which is kewl! Bar stools right in the water and you just swim right up to the bar!! Friendly bartenders and beach beds, hammocks, cozy chairs and friendly Iguana all over the place. The beach beds were very relaxing. Just laying there looking at the ocean or reading a good book. My husband and I walked down the beach about 1/2 a mile and found a really good place to swim and place in the ocean. The beach and ocean right in front of the resort is kinda shallow and they have the big barriers around - which was alright, not that big of a deal. We did some snorkeling right in front of the resort and they have kayaks to use also. (they provide your snorkel gear too) but for playing in some waves we just walked down a bit and there several good spots. If you are looking for alot of action or excitment, this may not be the place for you. We were going to go shopping one day up to Playa del Carmen, but once we got to the resort we just stayed there!! (can't believe I didn't even go shopping!! but I didn't) There is a small gift shop at the resort- very expensive though) Oh yeah, and the dress code for the restaurants is a collared shirt for men (polo or whatever) and I wore skirts and tops most of the time. Breakfast at Vida's was great!! and dress was more casual then. They did talk us into listening to the 90 minute sales pitch about the resort packages they had going (they definately had some good deals they were offering!) but we opted not to buy any right now and they gave us $200 coupon to use towards our Xel-ha and Tulum excursion which we thought was great!!) The ground are very lush and beautiful plants and flowers everywhere. We also had a couple's massage on the beach which was wonderful. They did a great job. I would like to thank all the staff (especially Fermin!!) for making our 10th anniversary a most enjoyable experience ~ we will be back!

If your american or canadian you will love this hotel (probably staying for one week). The grounds are superb and well maintained. The staff are fantastic and very friendly. The food is good but the menu does not change. This becomes very frustrating if you don't like some of the menus and eat in the same restaurant more than once or twice. Good location for trips about 15 -20mins from most places. The swim up rooms are a must, most people on seeing the swim ups felt disappointed they hadn't opted for one.
overall excellent holiday but a little let down by the fixed menu.

Seaside Suites exceeded our expectations. We were invited for a friend's wedding and before booking our trip we read previous reviews on this site so we went with both the good and bad reviews in mind. The resort is 90km from the Cancun airport so its a long ride but worth the wait! We were greeted with champagne after checking in brought to our room. We enjoyed a swim up suite, excellent room service, great resturaunts, beach side grille for lunch, candlit dinner for two on the beach, beach beds, snorkeling and more. It was an amazing vacation we didn't want to end.
