We just returned from one of our best vacations ever! We could not have been more pleased.
At first, we thought the all-inclusive fee was a little high, especially since we do not drink alcohol. However, after experiencing all that El Dorado Seaside has to offer, we think the fee was very fair.
The location of the resort itself is very beautiful, but you have to fly into Cancun and then take a shuttle of some sort to the resort. It is about an hour and fifteen minute drive. That is why we only gave the location a 4, because of the logistics of getting there.
They have wonderful restaurants with superb menus (no buffets at lunch or dinner). If you like to try and experience a variety of cuisine, then this is the place for you. The food and presentations are first class. Even being sit down restaurants, we never waited longer than 10 minutes to be seated and most of the time we were seated immediately. If you are very satisfied with the standard buffet fare you normally get at all-inclusive resorts, then there is no reason to spend the extra money coming here. But if you do, you will not be disappointed.
The resort's landscaping was beautiful and well maintained. Coconut palms dominate the landscape and provide wonderful shade. There were good entertainment shows provided every night at 9:45pm (a little late in the evening for our taste) and even additional live music on three nights. The website shows that there are king sized cabana beds on site. Usually when you see photographs of something really cool like this, there are just 1 or 2 such items available. Not so this time, these incredible beds are everywhere; more than enough to go around for all to enjoy.
The resort utilizes a personal concierge concept and it works great. Every "unit" has at least one concierge close by at their disposal to help with anything concerning the resort. When we told our personal concierge that we were there celebrating our 20th anniversary, she went into action. That night, the restaurant we were at surprised us with a special anniversary desert and when we returned to our room later in the evening, it had been "made up" special as well. Very cool!
We were hoping to snorkel a lot at this resort and while you could, it was not really that special. If you want to do some big time snorkeling, you will have to book one of the off resort excursions. Good news is that there are several very good snorkeling areas within a short distance.
Everything else was wonderful. The resort amenities were excellent. Three pools with three different atmospheres were great. You could choose a pool area based on what mood you were in. Six restaurants that were very unique themselves, really gave you a lot of choice there also. They have a wonderful spa on site too, if you want to indulge in that sort of experience.
We were extremely pleased with how courteous every one of the staff was (and we mean everyone) and how they really tried to take care of us, make us feel welcome at all times and accommodate our every request.
It was an amazing trip!
