“Jessie Gelato is to good!”
Reviewed 18 November 2013

Jessie Gelato, where have you been all my life? The only thing you'll find to be a problem is finishing. However, there is a remedy because Martin, the owner of Jessie Gelato, always has a huge variety of you favorite gelato on hand - and they're all good - to fix the problem. Can't decide on which is your favorite? Then I suggest you try them all - you will not be disappointed. My personal favorite it the peanut butter. A few scoops of PB combined with chocolate and you'll think you died and went to heaven. Only fresh ingredients are used at JG's. But beware, JG Is closed on Mondays. Don't be fooled by imitation, or wanna be gelato in PA. Jessie Gelato is the real deal.

“Delicious ice cream - a must visit”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

Having researched for ice cream on TA, I found this place which was just up the road from where we were staying at the Catalonia Royal Tulum. We visited on a Sunday, so the Marina was very quiet. The shop is in a nice shady spot, which is a welcome relief from the heat.

There are a wide variety of flavours to choose from, all handmade, which made our choices difficult, as I wanted to try them all. We met the owner Jessie, who's very friendly & had a great chat with him.

It cost us 55 pesos for 2 scoops of our flavours & was some of the best gelato we've had since Rome. Try the strawberry & coconut ones! This place is a gem, & we look forward to trying some more flavours next year. Highly recommend this shop, don't miss it :)

“New kid on the block”
Reviewed 8 October 2013

About 2 months ago, this very fine gelato shop opened up in our little piece of Mexican paradise (a place we get to call our "other" home for 8 years now) so I guess we are new kids, too? Back to gelato... The quality is second to none and better than many others. Flavor choices range from delicate, light fruity concoctions to thick fudgy chocolate, with everything in between. The selection hits all the want-list items for all seeking a nice, cool respite while enjoying the ambiance of the dolphin pools right there, in the middle of our version of restaurant row.

Jessie makes his own tasty concoctions with such love and devotion. Just ask him to explain how he makes the exotic fruit gelatos, and he'll tell you how he peels the liitchi nut just the right way so the juicy fruit retains its pale pink coloring. He is as devoted to his craft as any passionate practitioner of his art. For $35 pesos each, we got a very healthy proportioned cup of gelato and sat outside to visit with a neighbor and friend (locals do know where the best things can be found in their town), and enjoy the ambiance.

While you are sitting there, Jessie comes around with glasses and frosty cold bottled water, even pouring some in Bella the Dog's bowl! Everyone is welcome there. This is a very family-friendly place and just small enough that Jessie will remember you and continue to try to get you to broaden your taste bud horizons. Liitchi nut, you're next!
