The Barn Loft
Reviewed 1 September 2009

We stayed here for two nights with short notice to the owners Clare and Kevin

On arrival we were greeted by Clare who came running out to us with such a warm welcome, she showed us to the loft which is above their storage/garage. The entrance is through their garden and up some stairs.

Once inside Clare showed us around and explained everything to us before leaving us to it.

Inside next to the door is a fridge, toaster and tray containing complimentary drinks and chocolates. Also in here was our breakfast for the next day which consisted of cereal, yoghurts, breads, danish pastries, spreads, waters, coffee and tea etc. This was replaced each day.

Also in the room was a flat screen tv mounted on the wall, which played dvds and cds. There is a small selection in the room of these items and Clare told us if we wanted anymore to just pop down and ask. There were also numerous books, games and magazines aswell as leaflets on the surrounding area and attractions.

There were two heaters within the room but these weren't needed as the weather wasn't cold during our stay. Sleeping arrangments consisted of a double bed and a sofa bed which opened into the middle of the room. The double bed was lovely and comfy and the bedding was of a good quality.

The ensuite bathroom contained a bath, basin and toilet. It had Molton Brown goodies and the towels were from John Lewis. There were also two very fluffy dressing gowns which we made good use of. There was a shower head attachment over the bath.

Within the loft was an honesty basket; this contained numerous goodies like wines and snacks. There was a price list for each of these and the bill could be settled at the end of the stay.

The owners had a lovely dog called Tex which was very affectionate and energetic. He is very well behaved though and loves to play with children.

The purpose of our trip was so we could visit longleat. This was about 15 miles away and an easy drive. 50yards away from the barn loft was the local pub, we ate there once and it was lovely. The village is very small, beautiful and quiet.

The only negative we had was that the smoke alarm was very sensative to the toaster in the room. This went off several times whilst making breakfast, but I'm sure could have easily been solved with changing the toaster settings.
