I was born and raised on the Isle of Wight, but moved to Devon 14 years ago. Every time I return to visit family, I am struck by the potential of the island for outdoor pursuits and have often lamented the fact that no-one seems to be capitalising on it. Well, now someone is! Tack-Isle Adventures hire out kayaks, paddle boards, mountain bikes etc and even have a couple of mountain boards available. They also offer kayaking and sailing instruction. The prices are very reasonable. For example, we hired a double kayak with buoyancy aids and wetsuits for £25 for 4 hours. I'm no expert on hire charges, but that seems pretty good to me. Mountain bikes are just £15 for an entire day, which is excellent value.
The facilities are good too, with changing rooms, a shower, a seating area where you can eat your own food and you can even have free tea and coffee after your chosen activity. This is a brilliant place and we will certainly return when we visit the island again. It really deserves to do well.
