We visited as part of our VBT biking tour. The owners are absolutely wonderful and the meal they prepared from their garden was spectacular. The organic olive oil from their farm is exquisite!
We enjoyed our time with Carmen at El Cortijillo. Fresh food from her gardens, a quiet spot with magnificent views, and incredible local olive oil. In addition, the B&B is right next to the Via Verde, an old rail grade converted into a rec trail that's great for walks, biking, and seeing the rural countryside and olive groves of Andalucia.
I was part of a small group of bicyclists that stopped over for a mid day break and lunch at this facility. The staff were very hospitable, the meal they prepared though simple used fresh local ingredients including their very fine EVolive oil and the overall experience was outstanding. Having cycled through this area I'd like to return for a "kick back and relax" experience and stay a few days. I did not rate the rooms and lodging accomodations as I did not use them this trip but judging by what I did see, I do want to return and spend some time here.
Enjoyed a wonderful local lunch and purchased a few tins of local organic olive oil from our gracious hosts. They welcomed us into their home and gave us a true sense of this beautiful region
We were riding our bicycles throught this area and stopped for lunch. Gracious Hosts and good food surrounded by rolling hills of olive trees. We will return to stay another time. We also purchased Olive Oil, which they produce organically.
We spent a long weekend in this fabulous spot - booking both apartments. Balbino and Carmen are great hosts - even cooking us a typical Sunday evening meal. each apartment consists of a main living / dining area with adjoining kitchen, two bedrooms and a single tilet / bathroom (shower in the bathtub) and share a terrace. There is also a very large rooftop terrace for the balmy evenings. The apartments are up a set of stairs at the back of the building with views over the olive groves across to Luque in the distance (about 3 km up the hill). The pool and tennis court is within 20m of the apartment.
Other attractions in the area are the small towns of Luque and Zuharos (great cheese!) as well as bike riding trails. Granada, Seville and Cordoba are all within 2 hours drive.
Dont come to Luque if you are after a typical tourist holiday. This is a traditional Spanish village area with beatiful scenery, friendly but conservative locals, and great food.
