Before going to stay in this area for a few days I had never heard of Montoire.
What an interesting and poignant place to visit. The main points that I discovered were the three reasons why Montoire was chosen for this historic meeting during the war between Pétain and Hitler.
The staff were very helpful and although we were the only people visiting at that time they immediately played the DVD for us. This depicts some of the horrifying footage of the war but particularly in relation to the important meeting at this Railway station in this small town.
We felt it was a worthwhile visit. The tourist train still runs along the track during the main holiday period. The museum is closed at lunch time. We spent about an hour and a half there.
