Agriturismo Podere Prasiano
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 27 July 2014

My wife and I stayed 2 nights at Prodere Prasiano and were sorry to leave. It's a wonderful place where the delightful hosts, Emanuela and Massimo go to great lengths to make guests feel welcome. Emanuela's cooking is fantastic, breakfasts to die for and guests can't take their eyes off the panoramic views from the house, pool and terraces. Surrounding countryside is magnificent. Lovers of fresh wholesome food will feel right at home here and the house itself has been very tastefully refurbished with natural materials and a high quality finish. Definitely one to return to.

Everything about this place is special. The hosts, the house, the food, the location are unique. We stayed for five nights of relaxing indulgence as we were well looked after by Emanuela, Massimo, and Eleonora.
Podere Prasiano is a bit off the tourist track in the Emilian hills. To get there you must ascend in a series of hairpin turns that might leave you wondering just where you are going. Then you arrive. Through the gates is this organic fruit orchard and guest house with views across the magnificent "slow food" region that produces some of the ingredients for some of the best food you will ever eat. Staying here one can learn just how good food can be and how damaged our food culture has become. Here Emanuela cooks up rich food that simply explodes with flavor. Multiple courses are the norm and include such local gifts to the taste buds as Parma ham, Parmigiana cheese and Modena vinegar.
We left with the uplifting feeling that there are people like our hosts who care about hospitality and producing great food as a form of art and cultural expression. That may seem quaint in a world of hotel chains and fast food restaurants but traveling is as much about the refreshment of the spirit as the body. We may or may not see our hosts again but I take comfort that they, and others like them, are there. They get up every day and reach for excellence for its own sake thus keeping us in touch with what makes us human.

Dear Renee and Michael,

Thanks you very much for one of the best reviews so far! May I use it for my new website :-)?
I am very touched that you noticed all the hard work involved in restructuring and running an Agriturismo, following the Slow Food principles and according to our philosophy and art of living.

It was a real pleasure welcoming you to our place and I really hope to meeting you again soon!

Emanuela

Podere Prasiano is a very special place, beautifully presented, with great hosts, and a fantastic setting.

We really loved our 5 night stay, back in June, with our two year old daughter. The setting is incredible, with a view into the mountains, and a perfect layout for watching the sun going down at the end of the day.

Our daughter loved Edi the dog, who in some respects was as much of a host as the owners, always there to greet you, and happy to play with you if you want!

Eating there was a real treat, with Emanuela spending the day preparing the best fresh pasta, meat and veggie dishes and desserts, all served in great surrounings, near our room, so we could keep an ear out for our daughter. Was some of the best food we have had in Italy, or anywhere else for that matter.

The pool was very attractive, but very very cold (and it was 35 degrees out) so you had to be pretty hardy to get in, and also there wasn't a fence round it, so you need to be cautious with kids, but that is just an observation, not a criticism, as was very easy to keep an eye on them, as we were always there too!

Only other thing to be aware of is that it is a good 20 minute drive to the next proper town, with supermarkets etc, so fantastic for proper escapism, but if you are the type that likes to keep dipping into shops, and cafes, then you might feel a little too isolated. But if you want to get away, it is perfect.

Highly recommended, and would return in a heartbeat.

This place offered all we were looking for. It is not too far from Bologna and Modena which allowed us to discover the region, to relax in a peaceful place and to taste the great regional recipes prepared with talent by Emanuela.

Emanuela and Massimo shared with us the passion of their region and are always available and happy to give peaces of advices for you to get the best out of your stay.

We will go again for sure!

Loïc and Aurore.

Such a beautiful place. This area breathes tranquility, rest and class! A lot of class like his owner who is very welcoming, discreet and very caring. She did not hesitate to advise on tours such as vinegar, cheese, ham and wine. She is also a very good cook - pasta della nonna, dolci fatti in casa, una delizia !
We will not hesitate to visit again this wonderful place and spend time with Emanuela. Catherine and Yvan from Luxembourg

I have never written a review in my life, but feel compelled to share our experience with others. Our family of six has just returned home after three and a half weeks of traveling through Italy, Paris and Ireland. Prior to arriving at Podere Prasiano we were in Rome, Florence and Volterra for eight days and nights. Needless to say we were tied, but filled with excitement about arriving at Emanuela's.

As we drove up to the gate the experience began and never ended until we left five days later. Emanuela and her family have created a paradise within a paradise. The fully restored farmhouse is absolutely gorgeous with plenty of places to relax both inside and outside the home. The scenery looking across the valley to other hilltop towns was spectacular and the sunrises and sunsets were beautiful. Emanuela is an incredible chef serving us a four course dinner that lasted hours; truly a culinary experience we will never forget. Breakfast was on the patio every morning with an incredible assortment of baked goods, meats and of course cherries from the orchard. Wanting to experience some of the local surroundings, Emanuela organized a cheese making tour and visit to a local wine producer. We have never felt more comfortable outside our own home. At the end of our visit there were hugs and kisses and a real sadness about leaving. If you are traveling through Italy, Podere Prasiano is an absolute must. We have traveled many places throughout Europe and North America, Podere Prasiano is without question one of the best places to visit and relax.

This Agriturismo Farmhouse goes beyond all expectation! Emanuela and Mossimo have created a paradise at this self-sustaining organic farm in the hills of Panaro Valley! We stayed for 5 nights with our 20 months old daughter and we felt right at home the entire stay. The food was amazing and beyond compare to most restaurants you will find. The house and accommodations were top notch. This is the ultimate way to experience "le dolce vita" surround by the natural beauty of Italy. We highly recommend Podere Praisiano and cannot say enough about our amazing experience!
