“Stay at Exeter Hampton”

Clean and modern rooms, friendly staff, good value. Location was ideal for our visit to the university. Despite the proximity to the airport we did not hear aircraft noise. Only negative aspect was the lack of fried eggs (personal favourite) and small selection of pastries, for breakfast. But this did not detract for the stay.

What a great find. My only problem it was not well sign posted and our GPS does not allow you to enter post codes. Could see the building just had to work out how to get to it.
Pre-booked so I thought a great price, £63.75 buffet breakfast included, loads of parking. New complex, Air con, nice rooms. Shampoo etc provided, face cloths too which not many place supply these days. Normal tea & coffee supplies. Hair dryer, iron & ironing board. Well appointed rooms. One of the best places we stayed in while touring the UK.

Brand new hotel right by Exeter Airport. Good welcome at reception and a quick check in. Rooms are a reasonable size and well appointed with TV, hair dryer, tea, coffee and ironing board. As you would expect with a new hotel everything seemed spotless. The bathroom had a walk in shower and as a bonus the mirror seemed to be one of those that doesn't steam up. The only bit of penny pinching there seemed to be was that the shower tray was plastic. Soap, shampoo etc. comes out of a dispenser so there's no waste. There's free wifi to the rooms and although not the fastest it proved adequate.

The bed was firm but comfortable and the air conditioning was unobtrusive on its low setting. We had wondered if the road noise from the nearby A30 would be noticeable as our room faced it, but am pleased to report that the roar we heard in the car park wasn't audible in our room.

We took advantage of Marcos (as in Marco Pierre White) restaurant that is in the same building - you do have to go out of the hotel though. After a long day driving having good food on our doorstep was much welcomed. We got a table easily but we were early. Indications are that it is worth booking up in advance to avoid disappointment.

Having stayed at a number of Hampton Inns in the US I wondered what breakfast would be like. In the US we have found that there were more people trying to eat than there are tables for. No such issue here; the breakfast area was busy and we had no problem finding somewhere to sit. There was a good selection of hot and cold food which was all self service.

All in all this was an excellent stay.

We have stayed in this Hotel twice. Firstly when it opened and again this weekend, on both occasions we have been very pleased with the comfort, cleanliness and layout of the room. The walk-in shower is a delight and everything is new and fresh. The staff are very professional, courteous and friendly. The breakfast is self-service all you need is there and the croissants are delicious. The hotel is perfectly based if you are flying from Exeter airport, for exploring the beautiful Somerset countryside, local coastline or an overnight stay if travelling on to Cornwall. On both occasions we ate at Marcos restaurant where the food is beautiful and the staff really friendly and again the decoration is very modern as is the hotel. I would recommend the Hilton and will return when next in the area.

Room Tip: All rooms are equally as good. I was surprised to be looking out of my window at the field to see a...

Clean well priced hotel with great food and staff.Well recommended. The only area of concern is the internet signal in the room which was very low and slow. Evening meal great value and good. Breakfast was also good but let down with only scrambled egg being offered and would of preferred fried egg option but not the end of the world.Overall experience gets a 10 on venue and also on price. Will be staying again

This was my first stay a Hilton Hampton, I usually stay at Premier Inn. So I will compare the two.

Rooms/General Hotel
4/5 Stars - As you would expect as this hotel was brand new. Better than a Premier Inn.
Some nice touches such as adjoining room doors and a decent size TV screen.
Room was clean and easy to convert to four in a room by pulling open the sofa.
Nice desk and chair. There was also a decent Gym with the treadmills/weights etc

Staff
3 Stars - Very pleasant, but didn't ask how our stay was when we left. Not as good/switched on as recent Premier Inn staff.

Breakfast
0 Star - The 'Free' Breakfast was the worst i've ever had. The scrambled egg and coffee were both like powder. Does not even compare to a Premier Inn Breakfast, with its Costa Coffee and massive additional choice. If the Breakfast was as good as Premier Inn, I would have give a total review of 4/5 Stars.

WiFi
1 Star - I thought the 'Free' WiFi was going to be good as I had a decent signal. Unfortunately something is very wrong in my room. I measured the download speed at a maximum 0.71Meg in my room and I couldn't get ANYTHING to stream on my iPodTouch. If fact my upload speed was higher. No either the Wifi isn't configured correctly OR the download speed is being strangled by the hotel. Useless for anything other than Text Browsing or Email.

Parking/Access to M5/Airport
5 Stars - Free and lots of Spaces.

So in summary this is a nice Hotel to sleep in, but make sure you have breakfast elsewhere.
And instead of the 'Free' WiFi just read one of their 'Free' Newspapers.

If I was with family, I would chose a refurbished Premier Inn over Hilton Hampton and get the kids eat free Breakfast.
If I was just with my partner I would choose the Hilton Hampton and go out for Breakfast.

what a fantastic hotel, with friendly staff. We normally stay at the travelodge (not again).
The hotel was in an ideal position to visit the surrounding area, of Beer, Sidmouth, Branscombe and Lyme Regis. It was spotlessly clean, helpful friendly staff, easy car parking and the buffet breakfast was excellent. we couldnt find fault.
