A 2+ hour trip on the train line from Paddington Station in London takes you to the Exeter train station. Cars can be rented at a 10 pound taxi distance from the station. Then the Hampton Inn is a 20+ minute drive (~9 Miles). The hotel is modern and undergoing expansion. The lobby is ample sized and there is plenty of parking. Rooms are on the smaller size, similar to London, but quite adequate including free WiFi. Many of the guests work for airlines servicing the small Exeter airport or are attending aeronautical school. The included breakfast buffet is very satisfactory and a great way to fuel up before a day of sightseeing. The cathedral and underground passages in Exeter are great experiences. There are also markets in town center. The Jurassic Coast at Lyme Regis is a World Heritage site littered with sedementary rock fossils (~40 miles away), Agatha Christie’s Greenway on the River Dart is ~50 miles away and a real treat including the river views, the mansion and the gardens (you need a reservation to park!), and Dartmoor National park with climbing, walking and views of the ocean is well worth the drive!More
