We'd been recommended the Head at Middleton by a friend who remembered it because he'd eaten the best mixed ever there. I'm sure his memory is true because I had a fine steak pie and my wife had a tasty chicken tikka.
We stayed in a family room which was big and comfortable with a large en suite bathroom. Our two young boys bounced around on their beds delighted that they had a partitioned room of their own.
Before we ate, the boys were allowed to play pool in the bar area, which was very generous as they are 3 and 6 and this was their first time.
After dinner we went for a walk up into the woods that border the hotel. We didn't walk for long but it was enough time to take in the marvellous scenery.
Breakfast was good too: cereal; toast; full cooked; fruit juice; coffee/tea.
The service throughout was friendly and helpful.
Like my friend with his unforgettable mixed grill, I highly recommend The Head at Middleton.

A very warm welcome awaits you at this quiet and tucked away Inn. My husband and I had wanted to find accommodation that was good value and dog friendly with a range a good walking country close by for our first visit to the Dales. And we were not disappointed!
The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the food is excellent value. My husband, my 2 labs and I were made to feel very welcome and we would certainly return to stay there again.
If you want peace and quiet, good food and real good value then this is highly recommended!!

The Head at Middleton was recommended to my partner Jane by one of her clients and we have to say that it did not disappoint. The accommodation was first class, spacious and very clean. Elizabeth and Richard were very helpful throughout our stay and made our time at the Head a memorable one. We found the food great value and would strongly recommend staying at this accommodation and hope to stay there again soon

Finally Jane would like to say a special thank you to Richard who went out of his way for his help in downloading a couple of books onto her Kindle for the journey home.

We booked an ensuite twin room and found it was a double bed and twin beds. The place was lovely and clean and the wildlife in the garden area fascinating. The evening meal and breaklfast was good value for money. Will stay again.

We found "The Head" at Middleton whilst looking for an overnight stop close to the M6 at junction 37 Sedburgh. This is 7 minutes drive away and the most perfect stopover. The pub is a genuine delight with good food and beer, a pretty garden and almost level parking area for the motorhome. A cheery welcome from the very helpful owners. A must if going to / from Scotland. Its advisable to ring before arival.

The Head at Middleton near Sedbergh in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales provides excellent accommodation and good food and service. Their chalet style rooms mean that not only do you have almost total privacy but they also represent excellent value especially for a family or party of five with prices starting at £85 per night for a five-bed chalet.
The rooms are warm, clean and have TV and tea and coffee-making facilities and even have a range of books and magazines for those who are not knocked out by their day's activities and require a little light reading matter to help them enter the Land of Nod.
Breakfast times are to suit all and the meal itself is enough to set anyone up for the day. Put it this way it was sufficient to set this 55-year-old bonviveur up for a 50-mile plus mountain bike ride back to another Middleton in Greater Manchester on the day off his departure after a superb three-night stay.
I for one will definitely be going back - if they'll have me!
