I stayed here for new year and it was excellent in every way, I have been back twice since then and just as good each time, the manager and staff are most welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble, the rooms are lovley and clean. the restaurant and food are excellent put it this way I never want to go home, The manager does a quiz on Saturday evening and its fun.

I am booked to come again in February and I cant wait,

Mary Carlisle Cumbria.

Room Tip: Four poster rooms are romantic!!!!

on check in given an upstairs room no lift and steep stairs ask for ground floor but told they were all full so had to manage stairs took own cases up we came down to reception and said we couldnt manage stairs so receptionist said we have one room but not cleaned yet but it only has a bath which again unsuitable so had to manage stairs went to look round and found the facilities that hotel was booked for spa sauna pool but they was all inexsesable to us has again steep stairs so couldnt use we went out during day by the time we came back and went upstairs had so many problems getting up i had to stay there all night as couldnt face stairs again the room was very small with only 1 chair which meant not only stuck in room but one of us had to lay on bed also we could not use bar for same reason the stairs back to room my daughter brought us this for christmas on the understanding we could use pool ect so she didnt mind paying the extra the voucher we had was for £360 which my daughter thought would be luxery room but the room we were in was standard this voucher was a discount voucher but the money she paid was the same price as we heard book in for 4 poster room room we heard this being booked when we was having a rest before tackling the stairs so be advised this hotel is no good for disabled able bodied people this hotel would be great food good restrant staff very pleasant hotel is clean and friendly just a shame we had upstairs room

Room Tip: do not book if your disabled steps everywhere but would recommend to abled people

I'm very sorry to hear of the problems you had whilst staying with us at the Damson Dene. It is unfortunate we were unable to move you to a ground floor room with a shower, but I know you appreciate that if the rooms are full then our hands are tied. The offer you were booked under was for a double room and judging by the large number of bookings under this particular offer, our guests believe it to be great value for money. I do thank you for your review.

two night break with my husband sunday and monday. what an experience. it is not the hilton by any means but has so much old world charm and character. the perfect place to unwind. it could definately do with some tlc but the big comfy settees and large log fire is so welcoming in the lounge/reception that you dont notice after a while. the staff are very friendly and helpful and do their utmost to make sure everything is ok. the room was clean and adequate. the pool could have been warmer, the jacuzzi was freezing but the steam room was ok but do you know it didnt bother us one bit we were so chilled out and it seemed to add to the character of the place. wayne was cheerful and went out of his way to talk to us and make sure everything was ok. the food was really good but a bit expensive dont be put off it really was a most enjoyable few days just a tip you have to like dogs as this is a very very dog friendly place

I am a paid up member of the leisure club at Damson Dene and I visit the hotel regularly to use the leisure facilities. There has been a marked decline in the standard of this facility over the last 4 months. Nothing seems to get done even when it is brought to the attention of the management. The reception and leisure facility staff are great and I feel sorry that they unfortunately receive the brunt of the criticisms. The problems are as follows:

The sauna has not run at the correct temperature for 4 months.
One running treadmill has been out of commission for over 5 months.
The keys to the lockers in the male changing are mostly missing such that on my last visit there were only 4 lockers with keys.
There was no hot water in the shower by the pool on my last visit.
The steam room seems to work only intermittently and you have to know to throw water on the sensor to get it to work.
The shower gel dispensers and the hygenic cleaner in the gymn are often empty, even in the morning.

Up until 4 months ago the facility was excellent. Now it is declining rapidly and something needs to be done about it.

We greatly appreciate your taking the time to offer your comments on the Damson Dene and we thank you for your kind words regarding our staff. I do want to take a moment to correct a few distorted impressions of our leisure facilities.

There has been a large investment over the past 12 months in upgrading our facilities with the creation of two new beauty rooms and a refurbishment of the leisure reception area. This is an ongoing process and we are sorry for the disruption to the facilities during this time. We would like to reassure all members and guests who use the facilities that every endeavour is being made to ensure that the facilities continue to be first rate. Thank you again.
