Very warming and lovely food! Little dated but we had a lovely view from our bedroom, nice Facilities and clean.
Only let down was the window didn't shut properly, lucky it was not that cold and bar had no atmosphere not even music.
I would return but hopefully it get a little face lift before I return

Stayed there for two nights with my Mum last week and had a really lovely time. There was a lovely homely and relaxed atmosphere. The staff are all friendly and helpful. We ate in the hotel both nights as it was so good the first night.

We also had massages and facials in the spa which were excellent.

All in all a wonderful stay - we just wished it was longer.

We purchased this deal through Living Social so didnt know what to expect.
We booked a four poster room with jacuzzi bath and for £169 for 2 nights including an excellent 3 course dinner on the first night I would say this was value for money. The bed was very comfortable, however the pillows were of poor quality.
We had intended to eat out in Windermere on our second night, however, after a 6.5mile walk on the Saturday and a good soaking into the bargain we decided to dine again at the hotel resteraunt. We were pleasantly surprised that we were able to use our wine voucher towards a very good bottle of Australian red which went down a treat!
All the staff were friendly, helpful and courteous and couldnt be faulted.
On the negative side, our room (1) was a little tired and could have done with a good overhaul. The wood around the window frame was broken so that window couldnt have been left open without us being in. There seemed to be a paper handkerchief stuffed into the light fitting in the bedroom ceiling. Light bulbs "out" in the bar. We used the pool facilities once and found it to be adequate for what we wanted.
On the whole a pleasant weekend, pity about the weather!!

Thanks for your review. We are so delighted you enjoyed your stay and found us to be good value for money. We are also pleased you enjoyed our well--thought out wine list! Thank you for dining with us on the second night as well; the chef is certainly pleased about that!

We have just got back from a weekend at damson dene... This was bought for me and my husband as a wedding present from my work friends an have to say it's the best wedding present we received! We decided to bring our children (ages 4yrs and 5 months) and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The food was excellent not at all what we expected as we got the 3 course evening meal as part of our package the service was brilliant and were looked after very well.
We enjoyed it that much we will be returning in the new year with my mum and dad!
Thanku so much to u all for making our stay one to remember!

Lots of plus points about this hotel. Warm and cosy in the heart of the Lake District. We received excellent service in the restaurant and the food was delicious. Breakfast was also really enjoyable. We stayed in the four poster bed room with jacuzzi bath, which was nice but the decor needed a bit of a refresh and I wouldn't say it was worth £150 a night. A few other negatives, such as the fire alarm going off repeatedly one evening and the bar not being fully stocked. Also, when returning from being out, the receptionist didn't speak to us (no hello or anything) when we walked past. The spa is also quite unimpressive. However, a lovely open fire in reception and a good place for people who want to bring their dogs.

Room Tip: Jacuzzi room not worth splashing out on.

We found this hotel through living social and was a little sceptical at the good deal offered and whether the quality would be matches. It did!! The welcome was warm from Yvonne, the rooms were clean (although could have a refresh) and had everything we needed.
We ate in the restaurant and it was 5star quality- very tasty and well presented, good range of food on the menu.
Breakfast was also v good and fresh- the buffet style was constantly replenished.
The water did go off one evening but the staff handled this v well and provided us with water for our baby- Yvonne was very helpful.
The only down side was we felt a little rushed at dinner for the 8:30 sitting so would recommend to book earlier if u want to take your time. Also my husband said the wifi was v slow and temperamental, but I was glad for little signal to my phone!!!

My wife and I spent two nights at this lovely hotel very recently and were most impressed. The staff were excellent, the food fresh and tasty and the Manager Wayne was brilliant. Having been in Europe holidaying for 3 months from New Zealand, this hotel ranked as one of the very best we experienced ( better than many others significantly more expensive)
Would definitely go back.

We are all so pleased to read this lovely, 5-star review; thank you so much for visiting and posting it. We often hear that we rank right up there with much more expensive hotels and I can honestly say it is down to our staff. They make holidays perfect for our guests! Thanks for making the trip out to see us! If you are ever in the area again, we hope to see you!
